Hushabye Mountain — a musical retreat

Whether you use them as CDs or good old-fashioned LPs, or the kind of albums I’ve inherited, actual books with pockets for 78 or 45 RPM records, albums of music have their advantages. They’ll help you remember and replay a song you didn’t know you needed until it is back in your memory.
That’s what happened to me after my previous post here about “The Roses of Success.” As Thursday night turned into Friday morning, I lay in the dark and I could hear Dick Van Dyke singing another song from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” one called “Hushabye Mountain.” It was so good, I knew it was the next thing to write about, so I got up to write this down. Never fear, I know I’ll think of the music again and be back to sleep soon. I’ve added a video so that you can share the soothing music. Meanwhile, this is still a word-based blog, so here are the words (again, with a spot of help from stlyrics.com):
So who needs Brahms anymore? I don’t. Good night, dear readers.

Meet The Blogger
Margaret H. Laing
I moved to Chicago from the south suburbs in 1986. I have diverse interests, but I love writing about what I’m interested in. Whether it’s a personal interest or part of my career, the correct words to get the idea across are important to me. I love words and languages — French and Scottish words enrich my American English. My career has included years as a journalist and years working in museums, and the two phases were united by telling stories. I’m serious about words and stories. So here I am, ready to tell stories about words and their languages.
