Chicago Fire FC is a professional American soccer team competing in the MLS, or Major League Soccer. Owned by Joseph Daniel Mansueto, an American entrepreneur, and billionaire, the club was first named the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. It was on October 8, 1997, the 126th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire. The squad started playing in 1998 as an expansion team for the league. In its inaugural campaign in 1998, the Chicago Fire won both the U.S. Open Cup and the MLS Cup.

The Fire, established near Navy Pier in 1997, rapidly tapped into the city’s broad ethnic population. Players like Roman Kosecki, Piotr Nowak, and Jerzy Podbrozny from Poland, Jorge Campos from Mexico, and Lubos Kubik from the Czech Republic joined the team in the first year, bringing great success to the team.

Stadiums where they play games

The team had its first games at Soldier Field. But as the venue had to undergo some renovations, the Chicago Fires had a few nomadic years till 2006, when they found a new home at Toyota Park or SeatGeek Stadium. From 2006 till the conclusion of the 2019 campaign, Chicago had its home matches at SeatGeek Stadium, a soccer-specific venue situated on Chicago’s 71st Street and Harlem Avenue. They have also played at Soldier Field and Cardinal Stadium. Since the beginning of 2020, the team has returned to their old home at Soldier Field. The Soldier Field stadium has a seating capacity of 61,500.

Team rebranding

The team has announced a serious rebranding on November 21, 2019. They have changed the squad colors to red, gold, and blue instead of the red and white combination. The team also unveiled revisions to its logo on the same day. These changes were made with assistance from the marketing firm Doubleday & Cartwright.

Address, location, and parking

The main office of Chicago Fire is located at 1 North Dearborn St., Suite 1300, Chicago. The team games are played at Soldier Field, a historic stadium located on the Near South Side of Chicago. The stadium can be accessed by walking, biking, driving, or public transportation. Parking passes can be purchased online and at the premises. Online passes for vehicles can be purchased for $35, whereas matchday parking passes for vehicles can be bought for $40 using credit or cash. Matchday parking passes are available for buses at $160.

Season ticket holders are entitled to a discounted parking pass of $30, which can be obtained by accessing the website of the Chicago Fire FC Account Manager. The parking pass should be saved on mobile phones.

Other teams in the MLS League

MLS has a total of 28 teams as of now. The league has consistently grown since the 2005 campaign. It is now planning to expand its team number to 29 by adding St. Louis City SC to its roster in 2023. Several rivalry cups, typically against teams from different regions, are featured in the league. The teams are divided into Western and Eastern Conferences.

The teams included in the Eastern Conference are Toronto FC, New England Revolution, Charlotte FC, Philadelphia Union, Orlando City SC, New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, Atlanta United FC, FC Cincinnati, CF Montréal, Inter Miami CF, D.C. United, and Columbus Crew.

The teams included in the Western Conference are Vancouver Whitecaps FC, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, Real Salt Lake, Austin FC, Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo FC, Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, Minnesota United FC, Los Angeles FC, Nashville SC, and Portland Timbers.

Chicago Fire Soccer Club is an American premier soccer club based in Chicago, Illinois, where it shares its name with the world-renowned Chicago Fire. The club competes in the National Premier Soccer League as part of the Eastern Conference of the United Soccer League. The Fire play at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL, the venue of the MLS Eastern Conference. The first season of this prestigious North American soccer league was held from August to June of this year. Chicago has been ranked as the second best American club for professional football followed by Manchester City and Arsenal in the top three.

As mentioned, Chicago Fire competes in the National Premier Soccer League, or NPSL. The Fire plays its matches at the Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL. The club chose to join the league due to its affiliation with Major League Soccer. However, the Fire still has not qualified out of its group of players that have made the playoffs so far. So, according to the roster rules of the NPSL, the Fire has only qualified three out of ten matches this season.

So what is the reason behind the low number of wins this season? Well, according to the head coach of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, Frank Volkl, there is a big part of the team’s roster that has not been able to play because of various reasons. Among these are injury, Viguek’s transfer and visa issues. Frank Volkl believes that as long as these issues are resolved this squad will be able to put in some good performances this season and challenge for the playoffs.

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club also has a roster filled with international players. Among these are Carlos Vazquez, Aaronpscilla, Alex Garcia, Andres Guardado, Tony Marin and goalkeeper Matt Busch. So basically every position is filled with international caliber players. This is great for the Fire since they have some of the best soccer players in the world including Spanish legends Carlos Vazquez, who was recently traded to New York City. Also Aaronpscilla and Garcia are from Spain and have great skills, which is another plus for the team.

Another positive for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club this season has been the signing of defender/ midfielder Benowski. Benowski is a young attacking player that is very skilled at playing in the middle field. He is very versatile and can play either in the left or right side. He is also one of the few players on the team that wears a number five.

The Fire has had a successful season thus far but the team has a long way to go to achieve the success that they want. Chicago has a strong professional soccer team and the rest of the country as well as the rest of the soccer world is watching what they are doing on television. Chicago is definitely a team to watch this season. Watch Chicago Fire Soccer on TV and you will see why they are one of the favorites to win the Central Division.
