If you’re from my generation, classic rock is probably your go-to genre of music. Yeah, you may try to pretend that you’re cool and hip enough to love newer types of music, but we always seem to come back to the songs and records that we loved when we were young.

1970 was a big year in the world of classic rock. It was six years after the British Invasion and only a short time into the singer-songwriter era. Some musicians were taking a final stand, while others were making an early statement that would thrust them into the musical mainstream.

Fifty years is a long time for music to hold up and still be relevant. Here are some tunes and albums from that year that are still considered classic.
