Chicagoland Dog Parks That Are Staying Open Through the Coronavirus Pandemicon March 18, 2020 at 8:07 pm

With experts suggesting that all Americans work from home and avoid any activity that involves more than 10 people, it’s safe to say things are really “ruff” right now. While most of us are experiencing increased stress amidst the turbulence, others are elated about this systematic quarantine — our pups!

While you’re at home wondering what you can do to occupy your time, consider a local dog park in the Chicagoland area to help burn off that excess energy that you, and especially your dog, likely have! So long as you’re feeling healthy and staying six feet away from others, experts say spending time outside is A-OK!

PupTown | 4921 N Marine Dr, Chicago

This dog park is located just south of Foster Beach! Not only is this a highly recommended park for your pups, but there is also a nice path you can take that is right along Lake Michigan with tons of historical monuments and sights you don’t want to miss!

Beck Lake | Central Rd And E River Rd, Des Plaines

If you live a little closer to O’Hare, this could be the park for you! This is not technically a dog park, but it is a dog-friendly state preserve. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, or forging, this could be a new favorite place to take all members of your family once deemed appropriate! There is an off-leash dog area for dogs to run free without any restrictions. This 44-acre area has much more than that. Head over there for a breath of fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Mayslake Dog Park | 1717 W 31st St, Oak Brook

If you have a pup who loves to swim, check out this park in Oak Brook! There are long trails and a small lake for them to discover all new smells! They sure do love smells. This location is right off Route 83 South amidst a centralized shopping area. Make sure to check this park out. Who knows; it may turn into a new tradition for you and your pets.

Riley’s Run Dog Park | 650 Lambert Ln, Bartlett

If you are located in the Northwest suburban area of Chicago, you have to check this place out! If you have children who are also home, this has the best of both worlds. There is a park with slides and swings and everything in between. Located in the same area are fenced-in, off-leash areas for your dogs to run around solo or socialize with other animals. Not only is there plenty of room for them to run around, but there is a nice path along a small body of water. Don’t skip out on this place! You won’t regret it.

If there is one good thing that has come from this hard time, it’s the opportunity to spend more quality time with our four-legged pals. Let’s turn this “pandemic” into a “paw-demic”!
