Release Radar – 3/4/22 – Band Of Horses vs Peach Pit

Happy Friday, Spring is in the air! Finally, the new Band Of Horses is upon us and I’m listening now to Things Are Great. “You Are Nice To Me” is my favorite song after one spin through and the rest of the record is holding water. It definitely sounds like a soundtrack for Summer!

!!! (Chk Chk Chk) are releasing a new album on May 6th called Let It Be Blue. “Storm Around The World” is the first single. They’ve made better songs, but it’s a grower.

TORRES has covered Keith Urban’s “Making Memories Of Us,” and Nirvana’s “All Apologies.” Of the two I prefer the Urban cover even though I’m more of a Cobain fan. Like ESPN used to say, “You make the call!”

Josh Rouse covers an Arthur Russell song this week saying, “My wife Paz discovered the song when we lived in Brooklyn back in 2007. It’s been on a long list of strange catchy tunes I’ve been meaning to record for the last 15 years.”

Peach Pit releases their 3rd album, From 2 to 3. “Give Up Baby Go” is a sweet number that takes off near the end (3:41) with this dueling guitar riff that’s worth the wait! I need to hear this whole album, they are a solid band of musicians and melody makers.

Sometimes Y is a new project that brings Shooter Jennings and Yelawolf together. Yes, you heard right, and like you, I had no idea how this would sound or if it would be any good? But, “Jump Out The Window” has instantly piqued my interest, with its Arcade Fire-like vibe, handclaps, and spirited vocals.

Are they both singing, because it actually sounds good, and very unexpected. “Is this real life?” Like “David After Dentist,” that’s what I’m asking myself now after hearing the first two singles.

Looks like we just got new music from the Pixies. “Human Crime” has a retro sound reminding me of Midnight Oil, or Robyn Hitchcock. I like the direction they are heading and Black’s voice sounds really strong.

Your Jazz Cut Of The Week is from BADBADNOTGOOD. “Open Channels” is a space jam that works perfectly for waking up in the mornings with a nice cup of coffee, and writing in your journal as the sun creeps through your blinds.

Sources: Suns owner to speak with investigatorson March 4, 2022 at 4:50 pm

The lawyers leading the NBA’s investigation into the Phoenix Suns are preparing to interview Robert Sarver regarding the accusations against the team and its majority owner, sources close to the investigation told ESPN.

Sources said more than 300 people have been interviewed as part of the investigation, which the league launched in November after ESPN published a story that included allegations of racism and misogyny in a sometimes hostile and toxic workplace in Phoenix during Sarver’s 17-year tenure.

The New York-based Wachtell Lipton, which previously led ownership-centered investigations into the LA Clippers and Atlanta Hawks, has interviewed current and former employees who have worked at all levels of the organization since a Sarver-led group bought the Suns in 2004. Some have been interviewed multiple times, sources said.

The lawyers have asked about specific allegations in the ESPN report, which was based on interviews with more than 70 current and former employees. Employees have confirmed a range of published allegations while introducing others, sources said, and have provided the investigators with documents, specifically emails.

As part of the investigation, the Suns have granted access to internal emails and human resources records, sources said.

Neither the Suns nor the NBA responded to a request for comment.

A timeline to complete the investigation remains unclear. The lawyers have consistently explained to current and former employees that they are in the “fact-finding” stage.

3 cornerbacks at NFL Combine Chicago Bears should trade up forRyan Heckmanon March 4, 2022 at 3:00 pm

Chicago Bears (Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports)

As Chicago Bears fans take in the 2022 NFL Combine this week, there is a whole lot of work going on behind the scenes.

New general manager Ryan Poles gave fans all the warm fuzzy feelings they wanted earlier this week when he spoke. Poles said all the right things and, right now, the majority of us believe the Bears are headed in the right direction.

Head coach Matt Eberflus also spoke, giving us an idea of the exact type of players he’s looking for and the plans he has for this team going forward.

One of the areas that both Poles and Eberflus can agree needs work is at cornerback. It might be the most glaring issue on defense at the moment, and this year’s draft class presents some premier names.

Could the Chicago Bears trade up in the 2022 NFL Draft for a top-tier cornerback present at the Combine?

The Bears desperately need to get someone next to starting cornerback Jaylon Johnson, and it cannot be Kindle Vildor or Artie Burns. Johnson is an above-average corner in this league, and has potential to be one of the best.

If the Bears were able to pair Johnson with another top-end corner in this draft by trading up, watch out. This team already has plenty of pass rush prowess with new franchise record-holder Robert Quinn and one of the scariest men in football, Khalil Mack.

Sunday, we’ll see the defensive backs take the field for their share of drills. Which of these top cornerbacks might interest the Bears most, should they trade up? Let’s dive in.

Alex DeBrincat gives Blackhawks win in a very special gameVincent Pariseon March 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm

There was a point in time when Chicago Blackhawks were the luckiest fans in the National Hockey League. It wasn’t that long ago when the team was loaded with stars that helped them win multiple championships in a short amount of time.

One of those stars was Duncan Keith. He is probably the best defenseman in the history of the team. Unfortunately, his time in Chicago came to an end during the summer when he was traded away to the Edmonton Oilers.

He made his return to the United Center for the first time on Thursday and was greeted with a video tribute. He also was able to take part in the pregame ceremony which honored another former Blackhawks great.

Thank you, Duncan ? pic.twitter.com/jp7Syz2Hn3

— Blackhawks Talk (@NBCSBlackhawks) March 4, 2022

Niklas Hjalmarsson was one of the great defensive defenseman of his era. The Blackhawks gave him a nice little tribute before the game which allowed him to speak to the United Center crowd and get their reaction.

Hjalmarsson dropped the puck in the ceremonial puck drop in which Duncan Keith faced Jonathan Toews. It was a great scene for everyone who so fondly remembers those days in which the team was outstanding. Having those three and Patrick Kane in the building was truly special.

Forever a Blackhawk pic.twitter.com/tUOnnZH3IU

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 4, 2022

The Chicago Blackhawks pulled out a win on a very special night for the franchise.

There was a game that needed to be played as well. You never want to lose a game like that but it is easy to come out flat after the pregame rituals are over. Chicago didn’t do that and had a hard-fought battle with the Oilers until the very end.

Chicago was awarded a power play in overtime which is always nice when you are trying to win the game in the extra frame. Leon Draisaitl, who is one of the most dangerous forwards in the NHL, tripped Caleb Jones and that was the game.

Alex DeBrincat ended it and sent the Chicago faithful home happy on a very special night for the franchise. The goal was his 30th of the season which is an extremely impressive milestone for him. He is truly one of the elite goal scorers in the entire league now.

Like we said: don’t doubt Cat and Kane in OT #CloroxClutch pic.twitter.com/5x5w5xJ1TI

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 4, 2022

It is always hard to beat the team that has Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid on it because they are two of the five best players in the league. They are first and second in scoring right now and should both get serious MVP consideration. It is a fantastic duo and Chicago contained them just enough to win.

Enough can’t be said about Marc-Andre Fleury who did his part in this game as well. This is a guy who knows how to win championships as well, as his name is on the Stanley Cup three times too. He made 29 saves on 32 shots.

The team on the other side is the one that should try to acquire him the most before the trade deadline. Until then, he will continue doing what he’s doing for the Blackhawks. Their next task will be a day game on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Who gains the most from Putin’s criminal invasion of Ukraine?

Who gains the most from Putin’s criminal invasion of Ukraine?

Even as the International Criminal Court convenes to investigate Vladimir Putin’s war crimes, it’s clear that his invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked and illegal.

If you’re in the Fox bubble, you may believe that Donnie Chump was the only thing standing between Vladimir Putin and world domination, but that is a gross misunderstanding (LIE).

For those who don’t follow the geopolitical machinations of the world, let’s go back and see where this started.

30 years ago, the USSR was one giant, powerful mofo, but then, yada, yada, yada, it broke into 15 separate, independent states, the largest being Russia.

Another was Ukraine, which included the Crimean Peninsula.

Russia invaded and annexed Crimea in 2014, gaining valuable access to the Black Sea and a strategic submarine base. Then they moved troops into a couple of provinces in the east, closest to the Russian border and the skirmishes have been ongoing ever since.

Russia’s presence on the Ukrainian border was nominal in 2014, continually increasing and gaining momentum as early as 2017. In April of 2021, U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken warned, If Russia acts recklessly, or aggressively, there will be costs, there will be consequences.

Too little, too late? Maybe, but with no intent to put boots on the ground or protect air space, there’s little an already weakened America could do to stop a deranged dictator.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was a miscalculation on many levels, but that offers no consolation to the millions of Ukrainians whose lives have been ended or irreparably altered.

Like all delusional narcissists, Putin thinks everyone loves him, even the people he kills for “Mother Russia.” Putin thought Ukrainian soldiers would lay down their guns and the population would welcome him with open arms.

Putin also believed that his useful idiot, Donnie Chump weakened America enough to render us impotent.

On the eve of the Republican National Convention in 2016, Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort (who previously worked for a Russia-backed Ukrainian president) forced the RNC to change a plank in their platform to EXCLUDE aid to Ukraine.

Putin views democracy as a threat to his power. How could he have this huge, democratically developing nation sitting right on his border?

It was no misstep that Donnie spent so much time alienating our European allies, disparaging the United Nations and undermining NATO. Having us withhold a $250 Million aid package to Ukraine was an integral part of Putin’s plan.

As far back as 2018 Ukraine was under constant threat of attack from Russia and needed our help.

Donnie spent much of his presidency as most dictators spend their time, complaining about mistreatment and fake news. As Donnie said himself, ANY news that he found unflattering was fake.

Our nation was coming apart at the seams, but one day put it all into perspective.

On January 6, 2021, a group of delusional and misinformed racists and pseudo-patriots, incited by Donald J. Trump stormed our Capitol with the stated intent of interfering with congressional business, overthrowing the government and doing bodily harm to elected officials.

On that day, a giant slice of America turned their backs on democracy in favor of a cult leader intent on being an all powerful dictator. On that day over 140 law enforcement officers were injured by the mob, some permanently.

Six people lost their lives on that day and several police officers subsequently took their own lives.

With fractional support of democracy here at home, Putin did not believe that America would stand unified for democracy 6,000 miles away.

Putin did not believe that President Biden could swiftly and decisively put together an international coalition to take him to task.

Putin is paying a steep price for his miscalculations and the price may be steeper yet. Even a billionaire wants someone held accountable when he loses his $600 Million yacht. Putin’s greatest threat may well come from those around him.

There is one person, though, who, as usual is suffering no consequences as the world burns.

I don’t know it for a fact, but I really think it’s true. I think that Donnie Chump urged Putin to invade Ukraine as a way of killing two birds (or presidents) with one stone.

The invasion makes President Biden look bad (at least to Trumpanzees) and it punishes President Zelensky for failing to announce a non-existent inquiry into the business dealings of Hunter Biden.

Donnie has repeatedly shown his indifference to the suffering of others when it comes to his personal fortunes. For Donnie, this is a greater achievement than Bezo’s Blue Horizon or Musk’s SpaceX.

To paraphrase Ralph Kramden This one’s to the moon!

Niklas Hjalmarsson was the ultimate Blackhawks warriorVincent Pariseon March 4, 2022 at 1:46 am

The Chicago Blackhawks had a lot of great players during their dynasty. Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith, Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, and Brent Seabrook were all-star players who put up gaudy statistics year after year. However, Niklas Hjalmarsson was as important on the defensive side of things.

Hjalmarsson was not known for his offensive numbers. He hardly score and he didn’t necessarily create these great breakouts regularly. Instead, he made it very hard to create against him. It was also very hard to get shots through to the net when he was on the ice.

Few people were as willing to block a shot in the history of the NHL. He blocked 1186 shots in the regular season and an extra 316 in the postseason. A player that willing to sacrifice the body in order to win was both necessary and respected.

“He blocked shots like he was being paid by the bruise, double for stitches” pic.twitter.com/lPqVHIFyfW

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 3, 2022

Hjalmarsson spent the first 10 years of his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks. There is where he was a big part of a team that won the Stanley Cup three times in six years. Following that, he spent the final four years of his career with the Arizona Coyotes.

He was traded there in exchange for Connor Murphy and Laurent Dauphin. It was a bad trade for Chicago because, by the time Murphy was as good as Hjalmarsson, the team was horrible. They would have been better off going for it one more time with Hjalmarsson in the mix.

Forever the Hammer ? pic.twitter.com/0LDkume4WI

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 4, 2022

Niklas Hjalmarsson was the perfect warrior for the Chicago Blackhawks.

You don’t find a warrior like Hjalmarsson too often. He didn’t care about scoring even slightly but he was an outstanding defensive defenseman. When he was on the ice, Patrick Kane would get off but you knew the other team would find it extremely difficult to score.

The way he played was remarkable to watch. Having that type of defensive play from him playing behind Keith and Seabrook, created the perfect mix of everything that the team needed to be successful. Their ability to get the right mix of everything from their lineup was perfect and Hjalmarsson played a big role.

Jonny’s back and we’re rockin ? jerseys ? pic.twitter.com/ZRxoAukc8K

— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 4, 2022

On Thursday night, the Blackhawks welcomed Duncan Keith back as a member of the Edmonton Oilers. A ceremony for Hjalmarsson took place before the game. Honoring him throughout the game is a great way to show respect as well. It is truly a celebration of a great player who meant so much for so long.

Release Radar – 2/25/22 – Half Alive vs Tears For Fears

Release Radar – 2/25/22 – Half Alive vs Tears For Fears

I remember seeing Half Alive at Lollapalooza a few years back and really enjoying their set. Give Me Your Shoulders, Pt. 1 is a seven-song EP that includes the singles “Hot Tea,” and Summerland,” which are beautiful synthpop songs, with great melodies. Their latest, the guitar-driven “Back Around” shows a funkier side that should sound incredible live.

How cool is it that Tears For Fears are still making new music? Very cool, indeed! But let’s go a step further and say, they are making new music that is relevant with an updated sound. “End Of Night” sounds as fresh as anything on this week’s Release Radar, and that’s a pretty big feat, considering they’ve been out of the game for eighteen years. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith still have their finger on the pulse of pop music and The Tipping Point has proven itself an album you need to seek out.

I haven’t heard from the Swedish House Mafia in about the same time-space Tears For Fears have been missing. Apparently, the trio flew to New York and had a meeting with Sting about re-recording his Roxanne vocals for their new single, “Redlight.” Now, The Police’s most popular song will get a new life, and another shot at the charts. I actually kind of like it.

Goth Babe makes some of the best pop music around, but a collaboration with Blood Cultures? That’s some next-level fire right there! I loved Blood Cultures’ “Set It On Fire,” so when I saw this collab I was excited, and “Driving South” does not disappoint. Also, “Running Round,” the first single from the Santa Catalina EP, is one of my favorite songs of the year so far.

Welcome back, Regina Spektor! I knew that was your voice playing from afar, but I still had to double-check my phone. Sure enough, “Becoming All Alone” is the latest single from her new album due out in June, entitled Home, before and after.

“Come Away With Me” is a beautiful song, and it was a nice surprise to have Norah Jones show up in my Release Radar this week. I knew there must be a reason why she made the algorithm, and after some digging, I now know that Come Away With Me is getting the 20th Anniversary treatment. While there are several versions, the Super Deluxe Edition will include “22 previously unreleased tracks including her early demos and the never-before-heard first version of the album she made with producer Craig Street, which offers a fascinating look at the album that might have been.” Enough said.

Everybody knows the No Doubt covered “It’s My Life,” but after a friend told me that Talk Talk was his favorite band, I took a deep dive down their rabbit hole, and now they are all over my #RADAR. “Strike Up The Band” screams “80’s” but it’s still a cool tune. This is a band that you have to spend some time with, and I promise you’ll find something you dig.

Amos Lee’s Dreamland was Magnolia’s Record Of The Month, and for good reason. It’s a soulful, slow burn. So, dim the lights, turn up the volume, grab a good book, or just close your eyes and, “See The Light.”

This is the second time saxophonist/producer FKAjazz is moonlighting as your Jazz Cut Of The Week. “Air” is the first of ten singles from his new Deep House/Electronica album, Of Space & Earth. “The Jazz scene wasn’t doing it for me and although I had a lot of fun creating and touring with all sorts of bands, I felt like there was something missing. So, I decided to give Jazz the backseat and try something new and unexpected.” -FKAjazz

Hadestown at the CIBC Theatre is a delightful thrill ride of singing and dancing.

Hadestown at the CIBC Theatre is a delightful thrill ride of singing and dancing.

Broadway in Chicago is doing its job to ease the tension of people being couped up in the house during Covid by bringing in several outstanding theatrical performances. And Hadestown is a hell of a play that audiences will love.

Opening to critical acclaim, Hadestown received 14 nominations and won eight awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, the newest Broadway In Chicago production featured at CIBC Theatre. This Chicago premiere production starts with the Greek god Hermes singing (“Road to Hell”). Then, he introduces Eurydice and the Fates (ladies in Hell), relating information about the brutal weather and famine.

Orpheus, a musician, prophet, and poet, who, according to legend, traveled with Jason and the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece, meets Eurydice and asks for her hand in marriage. Eurydice is doubtful as they both live within the current harshness of poverty, but Orpheus has a plan. He informs her that he is writing a song that will induce an early spring, ending their impoverished lifestyle.

Orpheus sings the story of Hades and Persephone, where she arrives in the underworld. His vocal melody strung from Orpheus’s instrument caused Eurydice to fall in love with him, and it also seems to bring Hades above ground to bring back Persephone, the bride of Hades, who loves the love he has for her had grown to love Hades, but no Hadestown. They have a six-month agreement that she can leave, but his emptiness grows each time she departs Hadestown. He summons her back early, and Persephone questions why Hades beckoned her to return. As Hades lists the complaints he hears from those working in the underground factory, Eurydice is intrigued by the praises “The Fates,” singing regarding Hades. Furthermore, the whispering of safety and shelter seduces her with the promise of evading the cold and food provisions offered that she could receive in Hadestown.

So when Hades comes across an anguished Eurydice, he serenades her with (“Hey, Little Songbird”) inviting her to join him in Hadestown. But, when the chips are down, Eurydice, coerced by “The Fates,” chooses to follow Hades and sings goodbyes to Orpheus. Eurydice has to sign some paper which seals her faith as a forgotten laborer in Hadestown. However, once Hermes informs Orpheus that Eurydice has descended into the Underworld of Hades, he goes down into Hell’s pit to recover his love.

With lyrics from the music book by Anais Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown will thrill you from the opening song. The cast from the Workers Chorus, The Fates, to the incredible orchestra makes this production of Hadestown sizzle.

Nicholas Barasch, who plays Orpheus, son of the king of Thrace Oeagrus, and the muse Calliope, whose unique vocal pitch hits notes that even my operatic chords would find troubling to reach, is perfect as the love-struck at first sight Orpheus. The 23-year-old Barasch is no stranger to Broadway, making his Roundabout debut as Deputy/Master Nick Cricker in the acclaimed Broadway revival of The Mystery Of Edwin Drood at age 17.

Morgan Siobhan Green, who recently played in the off-broadway production of Between The Lines, was part of the First National Tour, 2021, of Hadestown and is once again playing the role of Eurydice. This spunky and powerful little multi-talented actress is charming as the pragmatic Eurydice just trying to survive the thralls of winter.

Hadestown storyline is different from the Greek mythology of Eurydice, a nymph and one of the daughters of the god Apollo. Married to Orpheus, Aristaeus, a minor god, pursued her to have her hand in marriage.

Playing her dream role as Persephone at the Kennedy Center Opera House, the very talented Kimberly Marable has an imposing resume, including “The Lion King, Sister Act, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, and “The Book of Mormon.” Marable is dazzling as Our Lady of the Underground.

Hermes conducts a train to the underworld, played by soulful singer Levi Kreis; he won a Tony in 2010 for his Broadway debut performance as Jerry Lee Lewis in “Million Dollar Quartet.” Kreis’s mannerism and style as the orator of the evening, who describes the love and strategies of Hadestown, is captivating as he draws the audience into this two hours and thirty-minute production.

And then there is Omaha, Nebraska native Kevyn Morrow, as Hades, the god of the underworld. Morrow’s career has taken him across the globe, and he made his Broadway debut in Leader of The Pack. His deep, sultry voice and dominating presence on stage make him perfect as Hades, who struggles with the complexities of being a sympathetic, loving villain.

Around the cast are The Fates. These greek goddesses design the fates of humanity and the dangers that happen to them in flawless three-part harmony and vocals by Belen Moyano, Bex Odorisio, and Shea Renne. These ladies seem like they have been singing together as a trio for years. Their haunting symmetry is easy as the backbone of the drama. I genuinely enjoy hearing them sing, and they nailed the role of playing The Fates.

Another splendid performance came from The Workers Chorus. Their dramatic dancing and singing featured Lindsey Hailes, Chibueze Ihuoma, Will Mann, Sydney Parra, and Jamari Johnson Williams was great. And the orchestra of Cody Owen Stine, Jacob Yates, Edith Yorkley, Calvin Jones, Anthony Ty Johnson, and the amazing performance of Audrey Ochoa on Trombone/ Glockenspiel.

Hadestown is a brilliant, sensational, and hellish story that combines all life issues of love, loss, power, and sacrifice and how we deal with the decisions that can cause absence, judgment, and doubt. You will be spellbound from the first word.

I will be remiss if I don’t share the similarities of Hadestown, written in 2006, to my book, The Hunt For Paradise, written in 2004, on sale on Amazon, shameless plug. The main storyline is alike, but they have differences, including the ending.

I’m not going to give away the ending for those who have never seen Hadestown; however, here are some highlights. First, Persephone, who returns to Hades, serves the workers in a speakeasy, and there is a workers revolt that infuriates Hades, and it’s all due to Orpheus traveling to Hell to win back his love life, Eurydice. Then a test is given to Orpheus to see if he has enough faith over his doubts as he travels through the underworld trying to bring Eurydice back home.

Hadestown is a thrill ride filled with spectacular singing and dancing. It will have you glued to your seat.

Let’s Play Highly Recommends HADESTOWN at Broadway of Chicago’s CIBC Theatre.

Fantasy 30: Jerami Grant is getting hot at the right timeon March 3, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Who is trending up? Which rotations are changing? What’s the latest with the notable injuries around the NBA?

Here’s a look around the league at the most fantasy relevant news and notes for all 30 teams:

Atlanta Hawks

Bogdan Bogdanovic leads the Hawks’ second unit and over the last six games, he has averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 52.2% from the field. Bogdanovic is still available in 30% of ESPN leagues.

Boston Celtics

As a result of Jaylen Brown‘s ankle injury, Grant Williams could see more playing time. He is available in 97.9% of ESPN leagues and has averaged 12.3 points in the last six games. Williams is a player to keep an eye on in deeper formats for as long as Brown is out.

Brooklyn Nets

Patty Mills is experiencing a slump at the worst possible time for fantasy managers. In his last 15 games, he has averaged only 9.6 points per game while shooting 32.3% from the field. In the event that Mills’ struggles continue, Goran Dragic, who scored 10 points and grabbed two rebounds and two assists Tuesday against the Raptors, may suddenly become fantasy relevant again.

2 Related

Charlotte Hornets

Hornets have struggled mightily over the last month. They are now the ninth seed in the East. With Charlotte’s tight rotation, LaMelo Ball should continue to see as many minutes as he can handle, which is good news for fantasy managers looking to win a championship. He has averaged 20.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists during the past 15 games.

Chicago Bulls

Still without Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, Bulls rookie second-rounder Ayo Dosunmu continues to thrive. This is signficant, given that Ball is expected to return in a week or two while Caruso probably won’t return until the fantasy playoffs end. Over the last seven games, Dosunmu has averaged 11.4 PPG, 5.7 APG, 4.7 RPG, 1.6 SPG and 1.2 BPG.

Cleveland Cavaliers

If your hoops team is looking for points, triples, and other peripheral stats, consider Lauri Markkanen. In his last three games, he has averaged 18.3 PPG and 3.0 3PG. Markkanen is available in 58% of ESPN leagues. Additionally, I would be remiss if I did not remind you that Kevin Love is still available in 71% of leagues. The veteran big man has averaged 14.0 PPG and 7.1 RPG.

Dallas Mavericks

Dorian Finney-Smith has been a tremendous asset to the Mavericks this season. He’s averaged 13 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 1.0 SPG over his last five games. Add Finney-Smith if you need any of these categories in deeper formats; he’s available in 84% of ESPN leagues.

Denver Nuggets

Later this week, the Nuggets will send Michael Porter Jr. to Grand Rapids of the G League. He is expected to return before the end of the regular season. Currently, Porter is available in 46.4% of ESPN leagues and is worth stashing for managers who have established their position for the fantasy playoffs.

Detroit Pistons

Jerami Grant has played at least 31 minutes in each of the Pistons’ four games since the break. In that time, he’s contributed 20.0 PPG. Fortunately for fantasy managers, Grant’s play is trending up at the right time for a Pistons team with offensive deficiencies. Additionally, keep Killian Hayes on your radar in deeper formats.

Golden State Warriors

Draymond Green (back) is practicing with the Warriors on a limited basis, he’s traveling with the team and could be nearing a return to the court. Until that happens, rookie Jonathan Kuminga (available in 93% of ESPN leagues) will continue to benefit from Green’s absence. Kuminga has averaged 14.2 PPG and 4.7 RPG during the past 10 games.

Houston Rockets

For a struggling Rockets team ranked 27th in points scored per 100 possessions, Garrison Mathews is available in nearly all ESPN leagues. Consider him if you need triples in deeper formats. Over Matthews’ last 10 games, he has averaged 12.0 PPG and 2.4 3PG.

Indiana Pacers

Currently, the Pacers are the 13th seed in the playoff race. It would benefit them to give younger players like Isaiah Jackson more playing time. Over the last four games, the rookie PF/C has averaged 12.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 3.0 BPG. Jackson is available in 93.7% of ESPN leagues, and is someone to add to your watch list in deeper formats.

LA Clippers

Over the last 12 games, Reggie Jackson has been outstanding. He’s averaged 18.0 PPG and 7.0 APG and is still available in 27% of ESPN leagues. Surprisingly, Ivica Zubac is also available in 36.3% of leagues. Zubac has recorded double-doubles in two games in a row, as well as five of his last seven.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James has exceeded expectations this season, with 20 or more points in 26 straight games. That is the third-longest streak of his career. For the remainder of the season, the Lakers have a 4-4-3-4-4 schedule — lots of games! Carmelo Anthony (available in 46.7% of ESPN leagues) has averaged 10.5 PPG during his past 10 games and is worth keeping on your watch list.

Memphis Grizzlies

Steven Adams should not be ignored if you are looking for rebounding and defensive stats. He’s averaged 11.7 RPG and 1.2 BPG during the past 15 games. Also, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on Ja Morant‘s dominance in February, when he averaged 33.0 PPG. It’s the first time in franchise history that a Grizzlies player has done that.

Miami Heat

Gabe Vincent is once again on the streaming radar with Kyle Lowry out for the immediate future because of “personal reasons.” Vincent is available in 96.3% of ESPN leagues and has performed well without Lowry in the lineup. He averages 15.7 points. 5.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds on a per-40 minute basis.

Milwaukee Bucks

Brook Lopez (back surgery) participated in practice last week but is still a long way off from returning to game action. In his absence, Bobby Portis became one of the top waiver wire pickups of the season, having averaged 15.7 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.0 BPG, and 1.0 SPG. That’s a career season for the veteran who came up clutch in last season’s NBA Finals.

Minnesota Timberwolves

You may want to add Patrick Beverley if you are looking for points and assists in deeper formats. He’s available in 83% of ESPN leagues. During his last eight games, Beverly has averaged 10.5 PPG and 4.0 APG. Aside from that, Malik Beasley is worth a look in most leagues if Anthony Edwards misses time with his knee injury.

New Orleans Pelicans

It’s unlikely that Zion Williamson will return this season, and in Williamson’s absence Jonas Valanciunas has had an exceptional season. What’s even more intriguing is that the Pelicans are comfortable having Valanciunas and Jaxson Hayes on the court at the same time. Hayes is available in 93% of ESPN leagues. Over the last six games, he has averaged 13.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.3 APG and 1.0 BPG in 25.0 MPG.

New York Knicks

Mitchell Robinson had a very slow start to the season and is trending up just in time for fantasy managers searching for defensive stats. Currently, he’s available in 37% of ESPN leagues. Robinson has averaged 8.0 PPG, 10 RPG, 1.1 SPG and 2.0 BPG in 26.5 MPG this season. Evan Fournier (available in 42.7% of ESPN leagues) is also a great option if you need points and triples, though the veteran mustered only three points in the loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Isaiah Roby had a career high 26 points against Nikola Jokic on Wednesday night. That is not a typo. Roby is available in 95.5% of ESPN leagues and is on a tremendous six-game run. In 26.3 MPG, he has averaged 12.7 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.3 SPG and 1.0 BPG. Consider adding Roby if you play in deeper formats and need a big.

Orlando Magic

Franz Wagner‘s terrific season has largely gone unnoticed as a result of the tremendous rookie depth around the league. He’s averaged 15.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 3.0 APG in 32 MPG. Wagner is still available in 37% of ESPN leagues, so he should see plenty of action as the Magic develop their younger players.

Philadelphia 76ers

The narrative that Tyrese Maxey could not coexist with James Harden was greatly exaggerated. In fact, Maxey has averaged 24.6 PPG with Harden in town, and it has actually been Tobias Harris who has seen his fantasy value decline dramatically as the playoffs approach. In his last three games, Harris has averaged 11.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 2.3 APG.

Phoenix Suns

It is shocking to discover that Cameron Payne is available in 92.4% of ESPN leagues. The Suns expect him to fill the void left by Chris Paul. Following a 16-game absence due to a sprained wrist, Payne returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday and was limited to just 20 minutes. Be proactive rather than reactive and pick Payne up.

Portland Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard is not expected to return this season, so Anfernee Simons will be the centerpiece of the Trail Blazers’ offense the rest of the way. He’s somehow still available in 35% of ESPN leagues even after putting up 24.0 PPG, 5.5 APG and 2.5 RPG during his past six games. If he’s available in your league, race to get him.

Sacramento Kings

Since trading for Domantas Sabonis the Kings have run their offense through him. Over the last eight games, he’s averaged 18.0 PPG, 13.3 RPG, 6.0 APG and 1.0 SPG. This is the type of statistical production fantasy managers can expect from Sabonis on a nightly basis for the rest of the season. His production will be crucial for the Kings, because they rank 22nd in points allowed per 100 possessions defensively.

San Antonio Spurs

If you are in need of points, look no further than Lonnie Walker IV, who has averaged 20.3 points during the past six games. Dejounte Murray (24) is the only Spurs player with a higher per-game average during that time frame. Walker IV is available in 95% of ESPN leagues.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors’ rotation for the past six games has included Thaddeus Young. In 19 minutes, the veteran forward has averaged 8.5 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.7 APG and 1.0 SPG. Add Young to your watch list or pick him up preemptively if you’re in deeper formats. He’s available in 57.4% of ESPN leagues.

Utah Jazz

Donovan Mitchell has scored 30 points in four of his last five and also actively contributes in other statistical areas. On Wednesday night, Mitchell had his first 35-point, 10 assist-game of his career. He was the first Jazz player with 35 points and 10 assists in a game since Deron Williams did it in 2010.

Washington Wizards

Raul Neto‘s role with the Wizards should continue to grow throughout the rest of the season. He’s available in 96.3% of ESPN leagues and is a steady source of assists and steals. Neto has averaged 13 points, 5.3 assists and 1.5 steals during the past eight games.
