You Should Explore These Places In Michigan
From the towering natural dunes to the urban edge, Michigan has something to fascinate travelers of all tastes and preferences, be it intellectual or outdoorsy like me. This beautiful US state is an ideal getaway to escape from the hustle and bustle of Chicago. From cultural influences to the existing outdoor adventure options, there is an abundance of places to explore in the Great Lakes State.
To put it simply, here I’ve rounded off the best places in Michigan that are worth a visit. Here we go!!
1. Detroit
The largest US city on the US-Canada border, Detroit sits peacefully on the northwest banks of the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. Since this city lies at the water’s edge, it is packed with tons of outdoor and adventure activities. Moreover, this sprawling metropolis is home to various tourist destinations such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Zoo, Belle Isle, and many more to count.
2. Saugatuck
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, Saugatuck is summertime heaven for visitors. Decked up with several beaches, this is an idyllic destination to grab a spot in the sand or get out on the lake via a boat cruise. Heading to Saugatuck’s charming and surreal town from Chicago is the best thing you can do to take a much-needed break from your mundane lifestyle.
It is an ideal place to spot rare wildlife and indulge in various leisure and adventure activities. Just make sure you browse the goods sold at the town’s many stores and boutiques.
3. Grand Rapids
Sits on the banks of the Grand River, this charming city in western Michigan is worth your time. The state’s second-largest city, Grand Rapids, offers a worthy getaway to those looking for a refreshing break from their busy schedule.
While this city is famous for public art and some top-notch museums, the primary reason for me to visit is to try its brews. This award-winning beer destination is home to 80 craft breweries and has earned the nickname Beer City USA.
4. Holland
How could I forget to add the beautiful town of Holland while listing the best places in Michigan? This western town of Michigan truly reflects Dutch heritage. It gets transformed into a tribute to all Dutch traditions during its holiday season, including roaming carolers, open-air Christmas markets, etc.
Spring is the best time to discover the majestic beauty of this city. When millions of tulips bloom, the people here celebrate the Tulip Time festival.
So these are some of the best places in Michigan that you cannot afford to miss!! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it. The tourists often overlook the state of Michigan, but trust me, it is the ultimate getaway to enjoy a refreshing break. Visit here at any point in time and create ever-lasting memories while rejuvenating your mind and body.
