What was Whitney Young Principal Joyce Kenner’s horrible offense?
Whitney Young Principal Joyce Kenner, a black woman who has been principal of the prestigious Chicago high school for years, is now be targeted and told that she must resign.
What was the huge offense that requires that she be fired or resign in disgrace?
Several students told the Tribune they were offended by statements Kenner made in a video address about unrest sparked by George Floyd’s killing, in which she asked that if students do protest, they not participate in violence or looting, and said the way to seek change is to get a degree and get a “seat at the table.”
Telling someone that they should be non-violent now is offensive? What would these ignorant students make of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.? If her students are that ignorant, maybe Kenner should resign.
I’m not serious. But the 800 people who signed an online petition posted by an unnamed “disappointed alumni” deserve to be ignored. Kenner said she’s not resigning and she has a good number of supporters. Good for her.
One more example of neo-McCarthyism.

Thanks, Margaret. I really hope they take your advice and look up McCarthy and Murrow.
