There once was a man from Nantucket (made ya look!)? Oily Joe Manchin—likes of him not supported by climate advocates there; read on to learn about true climate hero, Sean Casten, the man from IL
Oily Joe’s not a man from Nantucket
All he wants to do is MUCK it, (climate change, that is)
Nantucket’s a leader
No seals retreat here
Folks washed Joe’s nonsense away–witha buck-it!
Now Sean Casten, he’s a leader!
His plans should go to a breeder
He fights climate Nero’s
He’ll get us to net-zeroes
Fighting misinfo, deniers, and eliters
Seriously, Manchin, whose pockets are lined with dirty oil money,* is aiming to decrease human survival and increase climate hazards:
“Manchin reportedly opposes what is the most surefire avenue to reduce emissions in the reconciliation bill currently stalled in the Senate. (Republicans, of course, oppose everything climate-related.) Known as the Clean Energy Performance Program (known as the CEPP and pronounced with a soft “c” in energy-nerd parlance), it would pay utilities that decarbonize at a rate greater than 4% per year and penalize those that don’t.**”
In stark contrast, Casten calls CEPP [Clean Energy Performance Program] critical to our survival:
[Casten], “one of the climate champions in the House who worked in clean energy, said. “Yes, there are other climate pieces in the bill. But there’s nothing in the bill other than the CEPP that binds the U.S. to quantifiable emissions reductions, which is the theme of COPs [international, climate change conferences].”**Nantucket is lovely, particularly in autumn; truly grateful, I won’t run into Manchin on the repopulated (with seals) beach! And, with folks like Casten in our corner, we shall survive!
Stern attended COP 15. May the force be with those at COP 26!
