The Russell Wilson trade is great for the Chicago BearsVincent Pariseon March 9, 2022 at 3:00 pm

The Chicago Bears are still trying to build. They have a new general manager and head coach in place which is a great start. Now, they are hoping that the news about Russell Wilson makes their chances of reaching the postseason better.

The day started (Tuesday) with bad news for Chicago. Aaron Rodgers is going to be returning to the Green Bay Packers. There are contradicting reports coming out on the contract’s details but he confirmed that he will be back. Now, the Bears will have to continue seeing him in the way of the division.

Later in the day, a bit of news came out that should make Bears fans very happy. Another NFC team got significantly worse as the Seattle Seahawks traded away Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. He will be shipped into the AFC which opens the playoff field even more.

The Seahawks are probably going to be pretty bad for the foreseeable future. The Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers are going to run the division going forward but we don’t know to what extent. There are question marks for all of them.

The Chicago Bears should be ecstatic about Russell Wilson leaving town.

The New Orleans Saints no longer have Drew Brees (or Sean Payton) anymore and the Tampa Bay Bucs don’t have Tom Brady. There could be a shifting of power in the NFC in the long term with moves like this which could help the Bears if they ever get it together.

With Wilson leaving Seattle, only the Los Angeles Rams have an elite coach/QB duo with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford. Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers are on their way as LaFleur continues to grow as a coach but Los Angeles is the only one who has that with certainty.

The Chicago Bears want to take a step soon. They believe that Justin Fields will be a superstar after they drafted him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. A lot is riding on that decision to draft him as high as they did.

The Seahawks are not a problem for the Bears anymore. The Green Bay Packers will own the NFC North Division with Rodgers back in the mix but there are plenty of other ways to make the playoffs via a Wild Card spot.

Without Wilson, the Seahawks won’t be playing for anything. That, as mentioned before, leaves more room for the Chicago Bears. We can only hope that their quarterback Justin Fields continues to develop and dominate his way to the postseason in short order.
