The Chicago Blackhawks honored Pat Foley in the best way possibleVincent Pariseon April 15, 2022 at 12:00 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks had a very special game on Thursday night. It was not crucial in terms of the score, standings, or anything like that. The Blackhawks and the San Jose Sharks are missing the playoffs this year so not much was actually about the game.

The most important thing was honoring the legendary voice of the Blackhawks, Pat Foley. He has been the play-by-play man for multiple decades and did an outstanding job with it. He had many catchphrases that Blackhawks fans will recite for many years to follow.

This was the last time Foley will ever be on the mic as the Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster. It has been an absolute pleasure listening to him call these games for all these years but now they are taking the broadcasting in a different direction.

Throughout the game, many different people that Pat Foley has come to know in this life of his were shown in a video wishing him well and congratulations. It was so cool to see people like Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Doc Emrick, Joe Buck, and Patrick Kane amongst others do this throughout the game. Many people loved him.

The Chicago Blackhawks did an amazing job honoring Pat Foley for his final call.

His family was in attendance for the game and was shown a lot throughout. They have to be extremely proud of everything that he has accomplished in his long career. As a Chicago kid that loves hockey, it had to be a dream come true to be the voice of the Hawks for so long.

There was a game on the ice and the Hawks did their long-time voice proudly. They were currently in the middle of an eight-game losing streak that they desperately wanted to end. It did with a 5-4 victory in a shootout.

We were lucky enough to be treated to a “Hawks win” one last time. It was very special to see that happen and then see it followed up with him being named the number one star of the game and lots of highlights called by him. It was truly a great night to be a Blackhawks fan.

Even though this season was rough for a variety of reasons, the Pat Foley story will be remembered and told with great fondness forever. Those of us that grew up watching hockey in Chicago over the last few decades will always remember his legendary voice.

It was perfect for the Blackhawks to send him out. A win and amazing tributes are everything he could have ever wanted and more. Pat, it was truly an honor to be your fan. Until next time, we hope you enjoyed the broadcast, we know you enjoyed the outcome.
