NHL hockey is finally back in town! The Chicago Blackhawks are back and ready to host the Detroit Red Wings in the home opener. For a variety of reasons, it is an exciting time to be a fan of hockey. It isn’t going to be a winning season for the Blackhawks but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun.

For one, they are opening their schedule against one of their biggest rivals in the Red Wings. Right now, Detroit is one of the most fun young teams in the entire league. After going through a rebuild, they are so close to taking that leap as a franchise again.

If it doesn’t come this year, it will certainly come not long after that. With players like Moritz Seider, Lucas Raymond, and Dylan Larkin amongst others in the mix, it is a very bright future for the team that dawns the winged wheel.

On the other side, as mentioned before, this is going to be a losing season for the Chicago Blackhawks unless they pull off one of the greatest miracles in the history of the sport.

The Chicago Blackhawks are getting ready for their 2022-23 home opener.

Thier roster is not very good which is why they are 1-2-0 with their only win being against the San Jose Sharks who are just as bad if not worse. It is going to be one of those types of seasons for Chicago as the draft lottery is more attractive than the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

This could be the last home opener at the United Center for Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Each of them has one year left on the contracts that pay them 10.5 million dollars a season. There is a good chance that one or both of them are traded before the deadline.

You can expect Kane to start with Max Domi and Andreas Athanasiou while Toews is with Tyler Johnson and Taylor Raddysh. It is a very mediocre top six outside of the two stars but that’s what they have to work with.

On defense, it is the usual suspects except that they activated Jake McCabe off the injured reserve and he will play on the third pair.

Petr Mrazek will start in goal for Chicago. He is someone that is hoping to have a good year so he can find his way to a playoff team later in the year as well. If a contender needs a backup later in the year, Mrazek wants them to think of him.

There are larger things for the future at play for the Hawks this season. Each game can impact how that goes for them so that makes it fun to watch. Also, it is just good to have the Blackhawks going in town again. This should be a fun way to open the year at home against a rival.
