Should Paul Gosar be locked up or put down?
Paul Gosar is a Republican Congressman from Arizona. He’s the one whose entire family told you not to vote for because he’s batshit crazy.
One of the highlights of Representative Gosar’s career came during the questioning of one-time Trump attorney, Michael Cohen, when Gosar said to Cohen, Liar, liar, pants on fire.
That may seem spectacularly childish to you, but in Arizona it probably counts for something.
Gosar also had clever rebuffs for others who, in the course of doing their jobs refuted Donnie Trump’s lies or stood up to his rabid supporters.
Gosar claimed the Capitol Police were lying in wait for and executed Ashli Babbitt (as she attempted to break into the House chamber).
Watching Gosar slowly fire inane and transparent partisanship at Trump’s political enemies can be disquieting. It’s not that his farcical questions are unnerving, it’s the way his head lolls around uncontrollably, like he’s testing out his latest batch of LSD.
It doesn’t take a PhD or MD to recognize that Gosar is unwell.
Defending himself, Gosar recently proclaimed, I will always fight for the rule of law, securing our borders and defending the America First agenda.
Clearly the rule-of-law thing is a lie, at least when it pertains to the most corrupt president in the history of America and his band of lawless insurrectionists.
Personally, I’m kind of neutral about the whole securing-our-border thing. I’m not exactly sure what it means to a guy like Gosar, but it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with humanity, compassion or even Christianity.
The thing about immigration is that Republicans keep telling us out of one side of their mouths that immigrants are coming to steal our jobs, but telling us out of the other side that nobody wants to work anymore.
How can we simultaneously have both a critical worker shortage and and an onslaught of job-stealing immigrants?
As for the America First agenda, your guess is as good as mine.
The only thing they have on their agenda is blocking anything the President wants to do, even if it’s things like rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, bringing broadband into the 21st Century and providing health care for our citizens.
Clearly decency, integrity, honesty or any fealty to our Constitution is NOT part of this so-called America First agenda.
Gosar’s latest act of mental incompetence involves him posting a couple of animes – Japanese style videos, some of which can be quite violent – that depicted Gosar killing U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and waving a couple of swords at President Joe Biden.
If YOU or I did that, the Secret Service would be knocking on our front door right now.
In a display of infinite, impartial wisdom, congressional Republicans decided that Liz Cheney doing her job and upholding her oath and congressmen voting to repair our country were much greater threats to the universe than Gosar’s explicit depictions of mayhem.
It’s less than anticlimactic that Gosar was censured yesterday along party lines.
Gosar reposting his tweet depicting him slaughtering Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just minutes after his censure may be a reasonable indicator of his level of remorse.
Perhaps it should be up to the American public to decide Paul Gosar’s fate.
While locking him up and putting him down are two of the most obvious choices, please feel free to submit your original ideas to the email address appearing below.
