The Chicago Blackhawks didn’t miss the playoffs by very many points in 2019. They didn’t have great odds in the draft lottery as a result but they did get very lucky. The New Jersey Devils won the first overall pick, the New York Rangers won the second overall pick, and the Blackhawks won the third overall pick. The Devils selected Jack Hughes followed by Kaapo Kakko to the New York Rangers. Then, the true intrigue began with the Hawks pick at number three.
They selected big center, Kirby Dach, from the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL. He is projected to be one of their top-six centers for a very long time. There is even a hope that he takes over as the team’s number one center when Jonathan Toews is past his prime. That is a tall order but Dach has the talent to do so.

The Chicago Blackhawks really have something in Ian Mitchell. He has had been in the spotlight for Chicago drafted college players this season because everyone wants him to come into the NHL now. We won’t have to worry about him going back to Denver for another year and potential free agency because he has signed his entry-level deal with the Hawks.
Mitchell will forgo his senior season at the University of Denver to have a chance at the NHL. Obviously, he has to make the team as he tries to avoid playing for the Rockford Ice Hogs but all signs point to him being ready to play in the National Hockey League. They might have a much younger defense in 2020-21 if Mitchell is in the mix but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

This all came together real quickly, and Chicago Bulls fans have to be thankful one of their own was involved. The league decided to put on a H-O-R-S-E competition featuring some current and former players, along with some WNBA stars.
The competition kicked off Easter Sunday on ESPN and Zach LaVine was paired up against former Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce.

Paging Dr. Charles. We’re going to need some help processing the finales of One Chicago. A production halt has been called on NBC’s Chicago Med, Fire, and P.D. in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The shows will air their season finales on Wednesday, April 15th.
In February, NBC confirmed that the One Chicago triad was renewed for three more seasons. But until then, we’ve got three nail-biting conclusions to watch unfold.
Chicago Med will air its season 5 finale at 8/7c. The season closer is entitled “A Needle in the Heart,” and appears as tense as ever. The promo features Ethan crossing a police line and finding himself looking down the barrel of a gun while trying to save a hostage. Back at the hospital, a few detectives show up to question Crockett about his past. All of this wouldn’t be complete with some relationship drama. We’ll see April’s complicated story unfold, Marcel and Natalie’s relationship evolve, and Dr. Charles encourage his youngest daughter.
Then we’ll see Chicago Fire season 8 come full circle. The season ends the same way it began: Chicago Firehouse 51 going headfirst into danger. The promo shows the team investigating a gas leak when something suddenly goes wrong. The episode entitled “51’s Original Bell” will also give us a glimpse into the future of Foster’s career after performing a fasciotomy in episode 19.
The night will conclude with Chicago P.D. The preview for season 7 foreshadows big changes in the CPD. Atwater has been investigating the death of the cop. The question is: was he murdered or was the perpetrator acting in self-defense? Atwater and Voight are at the brink of a heated conclusion on the case.
No matter where your fandom in the One Chicago trilogy lies, this is a big challenge for production. Will we be left with plot holes too large with such an abrupt ending or cliffhangers just oblivious enough that we’ll be dreaming of the characters and writing fanfiction until the series resumes? Guaranteed, there will be a lot of action to talk about after Wednesday’s finales beginning at 8/7c. April 9, 2020.
Especially now more than ever, we have to remember the real-life frontline responders in Chicago keeping our neighborhoods safe. Stay inside, be kind, and remember: the sooner we flatten the curve, the sooner One Chicago is back in production.

All Chicago libraries have had to close their doors due to the stay at home ordinance in place. But this doesn’t mean we don’t have access to borrow books anymore. The Chicago Public Library offers a lot of options where you can still borrow from them without going into the actual library.
You can still download and access ebooks from the Chicago Public Library. Instead of requesting your book for pick up, just select the ebook option instead and you can get the book right on your web browser.
If you don’t want to read online, you also have the option to download a book right to your Kindle. You can borrow the book for 7, 14, or 21 days and, at that time, it will be removed from your Kindle library.
Another option to get library books from the Chicago Public Library is to download one of these smartphone apps: Overdrive, Libby, or Hoopla. These offer more streamlined ways to download ebooks and other forms of media like audiobooks, movies, and TV.

Audiobooks are another popular option to use in lieu of physical books. You can download these audiobooks online or on one of the apps listed above.
Even magazines can be borrowed through the library. You can use Flipster or RBdigital to download your magazine of choice.
For all of the above options, if you are unable to download the book, audiobook, magazine, etc. right away, you can always place it on hold. Through the website items on hold will tell you what place you are in line for the item and you can choose the option to have it automatically checked out when it is your turn to borrow the item.
It’s great that even though we aren’t able to go to a library and get physical books that Chicago is still able to offer its users so much. And if you don’t already have a library card, no worries! You can sign up online for free.
