The Bears are maneuvering to get their roster down to 53 players by Tuesday at 3 p.m. and got started by cutting four players Sunday and Monday.

Full Bears roster after cut to 53 players

There will still be some end-of-the roster maneuvering over the next few days, but the Bears have mostly settled who’s on the team heading into this season.

The team made its final preseason roster cuts Tuesday and now has 53 player as it scours the rest of the NFL’s waivers and releases to see if there’s anyone they want to add. It seems likely the Bears will look for help at cornerback, wide receiver and on the offensive line.

Here is the roster:

The Chicago Bears have talented options at wide receiver after roster cuts

The Chicago Bears arent done adding talent to their roster

Today is the day teams have to cut down to 53 players, and already some major receiver talent is available for the Chicago Bears. They’ll be keeping a keen eye on the waiver wire this week, and with the Chicago Bears sitting at number seven, they’ll have a chance to claim some real talent to add to Justin Fields list of weaponry.

Lets take a look at some moves around the league that already have Bears fans excited.

WRs Of Note that have been Released:
1. Tyler Johnson – Bucs
2. Prestan Williams – Dolphins
3. Josh Gordon – KC
4. Kendric Pryor – Bengals

The biggest name here is obviously Josh Gordon.  Having spent most of his career suspended from the league, I seriously doubt the Bears will be interested in his services. That being said though, he is a physical freak, and would fill a massive void of talent on the Bears roster. Personally, I think Josh Gordon would look great in a Chicago Bears uniform also.

Tyler Johnson is the biggest surprise here. At 24 years old, he is young and talented enough that its hard to imagine he makes it to the 7th slot on waivers.  He would be a solid pickup though. He caught 36 of 55 pass attempts last year for 360 yards on a deep Tampa roster.  He caught exactly 0 touchdowns however, which probably factored into this decision with the Bucs signing Julio Jones and Russell Gage this offseason. Again, I’m not sure he will be available for Chicago, but its a name they should definitely try and sign.

This is the rare player that might be worth claiming and putting on your 53 even though he hasn’t been with your offense in camp. Johnson is a solid WR who could benefit from a bigger opportunity somewhere else. https://t.co/gnA3uW3KSM

Preston WIlliams is a very intriguing talent that the Chicago Bears have a real shot at claiming. He has flashed real talent in this league, but he just cannot stay healthy.  Willams has posted 56 catches, for 787 yards and 7 touchdowns in 24 games. This would would be a very low risk, high reward target for the bears in my estimation.  Chicago has also previously shown interest in his services, before they made a deal for N’Keal Harry.

#DaBears were Rumoured to be Interested in Williams Earlier in the Offseason via Trade.
Let’s see if they have interest & if he would even make it to their waiver priority.

Kendric Pryor is an UDFA that showed a lot of flashes this offseason, with 13 receptions for 182 yards and a TD.  The Bengals are very high on him, but they have a very deep receiver room and it just became a numbers game. Teams will take a long look at him, and the Chicago Bears would be smart to be one of them.

Bengals releasing WR Kendric Pryor, per source. Former Wisconsin standout had good preseason but lost in numbers game. Same with Kwamie Lassiter, whom Zac Taylor cited as having a strong offseason/training camp.

Freddie Swain, who was expected to compete for a starting iob this year for Seattle, has been released by the Seahawks. A sixth round pick in 2020, he not only brings experience, but above average special teams value as well. Last year Swain had 25 catches for 343 yards in an inept Seahawks offense. On special teams hes averaged 8.6 yards per punt return, and 22.8 yards per kick return.

#Seahawks have released WR Freddie Swain, per source. A key piece in last year’s offense with 25 catches and 343 yards is now available.

This fact will make it worth watching the 2022 Chicago BearsVincent Pariseon August 30, 2022 at 7:47 pm

The Chicago Bears are going to be a bad football team in 2022. There are people out there holding out hope that this can be a winning team but there is just no chance. Most of the players that Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus inherited from the previous regime are gone.

It is going to be a season where six wins would be lucky. If they win two games, nobody should be surprised. The fact of the matter is that they don’t have enough talent on the roster to compete with some of the best teams in the league.

There is one reason to watch this team, however. They are going to compete as hard as any of their opponents and be as disciplined if not more than the other side. This new regime that is in place seems to have a handle on everything that is going on.

The culture around the Chicago Bears just seems wildly improved over the last few seasons when it was much too relaxed. The team was bad and undisciplined which is a combo that leads to disaster in pro sports. The tide is turning.

There is one major reason to watch the Chicago Bears during the 2022 season.

Once more talent meets that work ethic and commitment to winning, the Bears will take a step in the right direction. Seeing that philosophy in play this season will make the games worth tuning in to. They will lose most of them because the other team is better but not for long.

Justin Fields is entering his first season where he knows that he is QB1 entering camp. There is no Andy Dalton or Matt Nagy drama like there was in 2021 for Fields. They have a long way to go with his development but watching it is going to be a lot of fun this season.

When you watch in 2022, don’t expect a lot of wins. If a lot of wins come, that probably means that Fields is even better than we thought and we think he’s going to be amazing.

You can expect to watch a football team that has a bright future in 2023 and beyond as long as Ryan Poles keeps adding talent. It should be fun at times as long as the expectations are realistic for the team.

Recapping the Chicago Bulls’ offseason

With training camp right around the corner, we’re looking back at some key moments of the Chicago Bulls’ offseason.

The 2022-23 NBA season is quickly approaching. If the Chicago Bulls tend to fall off your radar during the summer, you’ve come to the right place. It’s been a long offseason; maybe you just need some refreshers regarding some of the key moments. The Chicago Bulls made plenty of headlines over the summer. Let’s start with the 2022 NBA Draft.

NBA Draft and Dalen Terry

Dalen Terry was selected 18th overall by the Bulls way back on June 23rd. The Bulls only had one selection in the 2022 draft. Terry is a versatile wing who has showcased some impressive passing skills. Bulls fans watched the rookie out of Arizona very closely throughout Summer League. Dalen Terry played well in Summer League but suffered a minor hamstring injury in the team’s final game. Thankfully Terry made a swift recovery from this injury.

Besides the NBA Draft and Summer League, a major highlight of Terry’s offseason was his performance in the Crawsover Pro-Am. Former NBA player Jamal Crawford hosts the renowned pro-am league out of his hometown of Seattle. Dalen Terry participated in one game and dropped an impressive 56 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Zach LaVine returns

There was never much doubt that Zach LaVine wanted to return to the Bulls. President of Basketball Ops Arturas Karnisovas had made it clear that he wanted to keep the team’s core together. LaVine ended up signing a 5-year, $215.2 million deal to return to the Bulls when free agency opened.

LaVine made it clear later in the offseason that he had no intentions of signing elsewhere. He only met with the Chicago Bulls when free agency opened. This Bulls team feels as though they have unfinished business and a lot more to prove.

Other Free Agent signings

The Bulls didn’t only bring back Zach LaVine, they also reunited with the high-flying wing Derrick Jones Jr. Jones who signed a 2-year, $6.6 million deal to return to Chicago.

The team also improved their rebounding ability by adding veteran center Andre Drummond. Drummond is an incredibly skilled rebounder who signed a 2-year, $6.6 million deal with the Bulls.

Goran Dragic also signed with the Bulls this offseason. The veteran point guard agreed to a 1-year, $2.9 million deal, and his presence gives the roster incredible depth at the point guard position. With the team suffering from many injuries last season, having this depth might bring fans some peace of mind.

Lonzo Ball’s recovery

The health of starting point guard Lonzo Ball has been under a microscope for the entirety of the offseason. Ball has been trying to work his way back to being fully healthy since January.

Sources: Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the season. Ball has been rehabbing from meniscus surgery in late January, but continues to feel discomfort amid several recovery methods to return to action and a bone bruise in his knee.

There has been optimism lately that Lonzo Ball will be ready for the regular season. If not, the aforementioned depth at point guard will definitely come in handy.

Summer League standouts

After the NBA Draft concluded, the Chicago Bulls signed Justin Lewis to a 2-way contract. Lewis had an impressive college career at Marquette and played well in the Summer League alongside Dalen Terry, Marko Simonovic, and Carlik Jones. Unfortunately, Lewis suffered an ACL tear in early August and is expected to miss this season.

It also was announced that Summer League standout Carlik Jones recently signed a unique deal with the Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls have confirmed the Carlik Jones signing.
It’s an Exhibit 10 contract which gives the Bulls the flexibility to convert it into a two-way deal if they choose to.

The upcoming season

The 2022-23 NBA regular season begins on October 18th. The Chicago Bulls play their first game on the road against the Miami Heat the following day. Preseason for the NBA starts even sooner. The league’s first preseason game takes place on September 30th, and the Chicago Bulls begin their preseason on October 4th.

WR Tyler Johnson could be intriguing option for Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears still need wide receiver help and Tyler Johnson could be an option the Bears look at.

Tyler Johnson was considered to be the fifth wide receiver for the Tampa Bucs on a team that is loaded with WR talent.  Johnson is a surprise cut from the Bucs that could very well fit into the Chicago Bears’ WR needs.

Here’s a big and surprising cut: Bucs are waiving receiver Tyler Johnson today.

The Bears are currently working with Darnell Mooney, Equanimeous St. Brown rookie Velus Jones Jr. and Isaiah Coulter while the rest of their roster is dealing with injuries.

Johnson is a 6-1 205 WR who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.  Tyler Johnson has 48 receptions for 529 yards and two touchdowns in his career on 78 career targets.
