Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard Annual Gasoline Giveaway is Today
Dolton, Illinois: The First Woman Mayor in Dolton Illinois 128 year history is making good on her campaign promises and continuing to bring relief to the community by hosting a second gasoline giveaway tomorrow, October 9th, 2021 at the Food 4 Less at 1000 East Sibley.
“The people of Dolton are proud, hardworking people. As the workforce and schools are reopened, I wanted to provide a little extra relief while they transition back and forth,” Henyard said. “If we can help someone along the way in these trying times, we all should.”
The giveaway will take place from 12 Noon until 2 PM – Residents are required to bring their Dolton ID.
Since her inauguration in May, the Mayor has hit the ground running and making improvements along the way.
She appointed Robert Collins as the new Police Chief and Peter McCain as the new Fire Chief. She appointed Dorothy Brown Cook, the former Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, as the Village Administrator.Started a foot patrol program in the Village of Dolton Police Department.Less than 10 days in office, at a Special Board of Trustees meeting on May 17, 2021, the mayor hired three (3) patrolmen and one (1) commander and promoted one (1) person from the sergeant ranks to a commander.
She started the discussion with the Board of Trustees to get rid of the vacant houses in Dolton. The Block-by-Block was discussed with the Board of Trustees during July 19, 2021, Board of Trustees Committee of the Whole meeting. A public hearing will be held to present the program to the residents. The proposed plan is that residents will be able to purchase one of the vacant houses, not needing a lot of improvements for $5,000, must live in the home and not sell it for five (5) years; and developers will be able to purchase one of the vacant houses, needing more improvements for $1, but must rehabilitate the houses, then sell the houses, and share the profit with the Village.Hosted a 4th of July Fireworks display, for the first time in over a decade in Dolton, on July 2, 2021.Obtained approval at the July 19, 2021, Board of Trustees meeting for a resolution honoring one of our fallen community activist; the late Elder Edward Crayton, with an honorary street sign.
