The Chicago Cubs suffered three straight losses. Here’s how they can turn it around.
It’s been a mostly fun experience for Chicago Cubs fans to watch their team from home this (shortened) season, but things took a turn over the weekend. The Cubs lost three very winnable games in a row to the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers.
After an impressive start under first-year manager David Ross, the Cubs lost their first series of the year in rather heartbreaking fashion. Things that seemed to go totally right in the first weeks of the season were no longer going the Cubs way.
There were a lot of question marks for this team heading into the season. As a global pandemic impacted seemingly everything in our lives, it suddenly appeared there’d be no baseball at all in 2020. Those questions about the Cubs would remain unanswered for the time being.
But despite many obstacles, the league is up and running albeit with some major bumps in the road. There have been multiple teams shut down due to positive coronavirus tests, but somehow the MLB kept things moving (for now).
It was a pleasant surprise for Cubs fans to see their team dominate right out of the gate this year. Kyle Hendricks dazzled with a complete-game shutout on opening day against the Brewers. The Cubs bats, once anemic when needed most, came alive.
