The Beeronaut
Chicago Craft Beer Week, October 5-8
I regret that we have two more COVID-related closings on the Chicago beer scene. Schoolyard Tavern, on Southport Ave. posted its closing notice on a Facebook post:
It’s with a very heavy heart that we will be closing our doors for good after this weekend’s (10/2-10/4) service. When we close Sunday evening. It will be the last time we lock the doors as Schoolyard.
And Fountainhead, a higher-end restaurant with a beer and whiskey menu, posted to their Facebook that they will be closing November 14. Their message noted that they could not keep up business with outdoor or rooftop seating in colder weather. However, they will continue to sell beer and spirits at their Montrose Ave. location.
Either of these restaurants could possibly come back if and when the current restrictions are finally lifted. Though each passing week may make it less likely they would return as the same concept.
