Chicago Blackhawks stunned in incredibly entertaining gameon February 12, 2021 at 12:00 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks were absolutely stunned at the end of a crazy game.

Chicago blew a big lead in this game. They had been playing very well going into the match and deserve a lot of credit for that but this game didn’t go the way they wanted. After going up 5-4 late in the third period, Columbus tied it and won it in regulation. Michael Del Zotto and Kevin Stenlund each scored about a minute apart from each other to stun Chicago late.

Columbus deserves a lot of credit. They outshot the Blackhawks 43-26 so that says a lot about the fire Kevin Lankinen was playing under. Cam Atkinson had one goal early in the game and then had three assists (all in the third period) to help them make the comeback. It was a phenomenal game for him as he led his team to victory.

As for the Hawks, they are a young team that isn’t going to be perfect. They let this one slip away from them but it wasn’t all negative. Both Ian Mitchell and Nicolas Beaudin scored their first career NHL goals just under a minute apart from each other early in the second period. Both of these guys are expected to be good players for this team for many years to come.

Other youngsters have been great as well and that didn’t stop in this game. Alex DeBrincat and Pius Suter both scored goals which are nice because the Hawks need them to keep this up. Both of them were assisted by Patrick Kane who also had a goal himself. Number 88 is the driving force of this team in every way. With Jonathan Toews out, Kane is the leader of the team.

It is a shame that a game that had a little bit of everything like this had to end with the Hawks giving up a heartbreaker with 1:14 left in regulation. Stingers like that are going to happen but it is good to know that some of the young players that are important for the future are playing very well. They have a chance to redeem themselves against the Blue Jackets on Saturday.
