The Chicago Blackhawks might be a team from our city that deserves to be honored in the next big documentary. The 2010s dynasty deserves that big spotlight.
Chicago sports fans have had it a bit easier than most during the COVID-19 quarantine. There have been a couple of documentaries to help us get through as a nation and both of them had to do with a prominent Chicago athlete. “The Last Dance” was one of the Chicago Bulls dynasties in the 1990s and “Long Gone Summer” was on the 1998 home run chase between Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs and Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals. That makes us wonder, would the Chicago Blackhawks be next in line for a “30 for 30”?
As far as Chicago teams to be featured in a movie like that, it should absolutely be the Chicago Blackhawks dynasty of the 2010s. They were a pretty bad franchise for a long time before some very nice moves led to them becoming a powerhouse franchise in the NHL. They lost to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2009 Western Conference Finals and that showed that the team was good and knocking on the door.
