Wims is most notably recognized for his NFC Wild Card playoff performance against the New Orleans Saints. In the game, he dropped a wide-open basket catch for a touchdown that would have kept the team in the game.
Wims also got into a fight with CJ Gardner-Johnson of the Saints back in week eight of the season, which got him ejected and suspended.
Head coach Matt Nagy told reporters that Wims’s fight with Gardner-Johnson was “irresponsible, selfish, and has zero part of the game,” according to Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune.
#Bears roster moves:

How does this move affect the current Bears and the fan base?
This move shows Bears fans that its coaching staff and management are a no-nonsense team. While it took the organization too long to release Wims from the squad, they still got around to it.
The team made a similar move by trading away Anthony Miller to the Houston Texans for late-round draft capital not long ago. If memory serves Bears fans correctly, Miller was ejected from the NFC Wild Card game against the Saints for punching Gardner-Johnson.
Based on this evidence, the tolerance for fighting and letting down the team is slim.
Moreover, this move helps its fans get a clearer picture of what the wide receiver room will look like for the upcoming season with the Bears.
The Bears are rounding out the receiver room, which currently looks like Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Marquise Goodwin, and Damiere Byrd. The final spots are looking to be given to either Dazz Newsome, Riley Ridley, Chris Lacy, or fan-favorite Rodney Adams.
