At pick no. 43 in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears will make their first selection. Which players are likely to be available?
The closer we get to the 2020 NFL Draft, the more you will see players rise and fall — and guess what? That’s a great thing for the Chicago Bears, as they are without a first-round pick.
There are a few positions which teams could start to make a run on earlier than anticipated, with the first obviously being quarterback. Teams may decide to hold off on a guy like Tua Tagovailoa due to concerns about his physicals.
If so, we could see quarterbacks like Jordan Love, Jacob Eason and Jalen Hurts rise. Obviously, Justin Herbert is a first-round pick along with the clear-cut no. 1 in Joe Burrow. If Eason and Hurts sneak up a bit, that will push other players down, of course.
Another position we could see rise is the interior offensive line. There are some phenomenal tackles available in the first round, but most of the top interior linemen have been graded late-first or second-round picks. Teams with a need on the interior could reach for names like Cesar Ruiz, Lloyd Cushenberry, Tyler Biadasz or Matt Hennessy.
I hesitate to say “reach,” because those are all excellent players whom should come in and have a strong chance at starting right away as rookies. But, if a couple of those names go prior to pick no. 43, once more, the Bears will see talent fall.
