Biden’s contemptible message to voters and the media: It’s none of your business.
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is echoing the immortal Nancy Pelosi’s quote about Obamacare: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”
Astonishingly and unforgivably Biden said we would have to wait until after the election to find out his position on packing the Supreme Court.
You’ll know my opinion on court packing when the election is over. I know it’s a great question and I don’t blame you for asking it, but you know the moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that, other than focusing on what’s happening now.
What’s happening now, Joe, is a presidential campaign during which the public expects–actually it has a damn right– to know what the candidates would do as president.
Even for someone as intellectually challenged as Joe Biden, this is breathtakingly stupid, exceedingly insulting and profoundly troubling. I looked in vain for the wholesale and unanimous condemnation by the media of this sharp stick in the eye of the press and the people they are supposed to serve.
Has any candidate in anyone’s memory so openly and defiantly told voters that it’s none of their business what a candidate has in mind to impose on the electorate? Has any candidate so flagrantly said that disclosing such an important policy position is bad because it would make headlines, as it truly would because fundamentally altering the historic composition of the Supreme Court is a “big effing thing”?
It’s a big thing because liberals have politicized the court, contorting its purpose beyond what is reasonable and wise. The design of our tripartite government that balances and checks power between the executive, legislative and judicial branches has protected Americans for centuries against the tyranny of an autocrat or of the majority. A presidential candidate hiding his thoughts on such a fundamental shift is contemptible.
As abhorrent as Biden’s “go screw yourself” is, the useless press is taking Biden’s attack on its most sacred purpose lying down. True, part of the reason is its loathsome left-wing political bias. But I’ve also come to the conclusion that the press is a bunch of pussies, afraid to defend its sacred role as the fourth branch of our republic. Do the media have so little self-respect or understanding of their importance?
Even if the press is allowed to ask Biden any questions, it won’t ask the candidate about this. The press won’t hound Biden to answer; they’ll let it ride. Hopeless. Worthless.
Instead we read more about the fly that landed on Vice President’s Mike Pence’s head during the debate. Pathetic.
