A SHAMEFUL CITY/ A COPS DEATH/A MOTHER AND A BABY THAT WILL NEVER KNOW EACH OTHER/THE BEAT GOES ON/ MORE SHOCKING VIOLENCE/Chicago’s Cops are Listening to Bob Dylan
A Chicago cop is Murdered and her partner is fighting for his life- It’s emotional. Every once in a while somebody will ask that question “who the hell would want to be a Cop in Chicago these days? Halfway through another typical Chicago weekend already 70 folks were shot and 11 murdered. Hell, it’s only noon Sunday!
Anybody who reads these posts knows I have often said the vicious homegrown Gang thugs in Chicago are so emboldened they are not afraid to shoot uniform cops. Anybody who has paid the least bit of attention to Chicago’s violence the last couple of years may not be surprised at the day in and day out mayhem but there is a reason why more than 450 cops have retired so far this year and more are expected to follow them before the year is out. There have been at least 12 CPD officers who have committed suicide in the last 2 years, the most in the nation. I cannot help to think hard about Bob Dylan’s words from Knocking On Heavens Door. “MAMA TAKE THIS BADGE FROM ME, I CAN’T USE IT ANYMORE, IT’S GETTING TOO DARK TO SEE. I FEEL LIKE I’M KNOCKING ON HEAVENS DOOR.”Indeed the darkness for some is eternal.
Ella French was a Chicago Police Officer who was shot and killed last night while working in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, her partner is in very critical condition with 2 bullet wounds to his head but is currently stable. Ella was the mother of a 2-month-old baby daughter. A Mother and a baby will never ever know each other. Less than 24 hours ago Chicago’s Mayor announced her new Violence strategy, most critics just kinda flinch when this happens, to be honest, it’s about her 10th such strategy. Why even the mainstream press in Chicago has noticed.
Her new strategy and all that press coverage that the President was sending help to Chicago two weeks ago begs the question WELL WHERE THE HELL IS THAT HELP AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NEW STRATEGY the mayor named “ALL-IN?” We constantly hear, I’d say for some 60 years now, about getting to the ROOT CAUSES OF CHICAGO’S VIOLENCE- Well those ROOT CAUSES seem to be as elusive as King Tuts Tomb until Howard Carter suddenly ended the search. Anyone with any clear-thinking mind can obviously see that Chicago’s root causes of violence are the CITYS GANGS. The truth is there doesn’t seem to be a Howard Carter anywhere near Chicago.
Above is a scene last night at the Hospital where Ella Died and her partner is fighting for his life- Heartbreaking to say the least but until Chicago’s Clueless leaders face a reality that somehow lacks any semblance of courage, the GANGS of Chicago will continue and the Mayhem will haunt a once proud and great city that was once called “THE CITY OF BIG SHOULDERS” Chicago’s leaders somehow have to find the guts to take on a spreading and Malignant deadly cancer that has taken hold. IT’S THE GANGS STUPID— They are not going away until you force them to.
