53rd NAACP Image Awards Will Broadcast Live With In-Person Audience
The NAACP and BET announced that the 53rd NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live as an in-person event in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Nominees for the awards program will be announced on January 11, 2022.
The NAACP will also recognize winners in categories from the non-televised Image Awards presentation on February 21st thru- February 23rd, via streaming on www.naacpimageawards.net. The winners will also be presented during the NAACP Image Awards Dinner, held February 25th in Los Angeles.

This is welcoming news to thousands of Black filmmakers in the industry like award winning actress, author and producer Trisha Mann-Grant. “It’s amazing to have the opportunity to celebrate my talented fellow actors once again,” exclaims Trisha. “Its been a while since I had a chance to see some of my colleagues and The Image Awards has always been a great place to meet and have fun.”
Trisha is a Chicago native and currently lives in Los Angeles. In 2005, she earned a NAACP Best Supporting Actress Nomination for her role in the hit musical play If You Don’t Believe: A Love Story produced by Grammy Award winning singer Denise Williams. Trisha is also known for her role as Nancy on the major motion picture The Man in 3B and currently performs as Dominique on the the hit drama Carl Weber’s The Family Business.

Trisha said it was a task trying to stay focus in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. When live events went virtual and TV-film production came to a halt, Trisha utilized her time to co-executive produce and star in a film titled Because We’re Done; write and publish her second book; and work on a film documentary with her long time friend, Toni Shelton.

“The documentary is titled Toni Shelton’s The Queen of House Music and tells the story of Toni’s entrepreneurial spirit and how she became a pioneer of the house music genre for over 30 years,” explains Trisha, “and I’m extremely happy to be part of it.”

Trisha is looking forward to attending the the 53rd NAACP Image Awards in February. She was elated to hear the announcement that the Image Awards committee has added four new podcast categories for this years competition. As producer of her own talk show podcast, Mann Talk with Trisha Mann-Grant, Trisha says the new categories will introduce new talent. “There’s a lot of fun and engaging podcasts that are being produced today,” says Trisha, “and its great that the NAACP Image Awards are giving a platform for those professional pod-casters.”
Recognized as the nation’s preeminent multicultural awards show from an African American perspective, the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, presented by Wells Fargo and sponsored by FedEx, celebrates the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color across more than 80 competitive categories spanning film, television + streaming, music, literature, and podcasts.
