2021 Lexus IS revealed [PHOTOS]

Lexus revealed the 2021 IS tonight in a live YouTube and Facebook stream. While I was expecting a next-generation vehicle, what we’re getting is a refreshed one. I have to admit, though it looks really nice, I’m a bit disappointed.
When I wrote my review of the 2020 Lexus IS, the headline was: Still a solid sedan, but time for an update.
I was hoping for so much more.
But what we’re getting is:
- Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Alexa connectivity.
- The 2.5 version of the Lexus Safety System will be standard across the lineup and includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane trace assist, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
- The Lexus touchpad.
- Red interior trim in the F Sport model.
- The first iteration of a “Lexus Driving Signature.”
What we didn’t get: A radical design update or new powertrains.
I’m definitely curious about the Lexus Driving Signature, which claims to “cement the bond between driver and vehicle by providing an enhanced linear driving characteristic that provides clear and direct feedback to the driver.”
But I wanted more.
This refreshed model will be available later in 2020, with no specific timing announced. Pricing has also not been announced.
So, until I have the chance to drive it IRL, I leave you with all the photos Lexus made public.
