The teen and a 20-year-old man were walking about 10:10 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Artesian Avenue when someone approached them and opened fire, striking them both.

A 16-year-old boy was killed, and a man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday in Gage Park on the Southwest Side.

The teen and a 20-year-old man were walking about 10:10 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Artesian Avenue when someone approached them and opened fire, striking them both, Chicago police said.

The boy was struck multiple times and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in where he was pronounced dead, police said. He has not yet been identified.

The man suffered three gunshot wounds to his back and was taken to the same hospital, where he was also in critical condition, police said.

Police said the attacker was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

No arrests have been reported. Area One detectives are investigating.
