I’m not the only one looking for signs of spring. The Chicago Sun-Times did a Readers’ Poll the other day, asking readers what are some signs of spring for them in Chicago.

Not surprisingly, potholes were high on the list, along with shorts and hoodies. Trash after the snow melts. Robins returning. Also, 60’s highs followed by a blizzard.

Here are some more signs of spring to me —

lines of geese flying north!

the first crocuses and daffodils

dandelions

mud

buds on the branches

buds on the branches, and baseball on the radio—at least, this was a sure sign of spring for me. Sadly, no shouts of Play Ball and Spring Training this year–but on the first warm day, with highs in the 60’s like Saturday, kids were playing catch with a baseball in the street. Baseball blooms again, and anyone can play!
