Chicago Bears must move quickly after latest movement around leagueRyan Heckmanon January 21, 2022 at 6:07 pm

Over the past couple of weeks, the Chicago Bears have been busy interviewing for a couple of important vacancies.

Replacing former head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace is a tall task for George McCaskey and his team of advisors. It’s not difficult due to the jobs Nagy and Pace did in Chicago, but more so because the future of this team could look very bright if the right people are brought in.

Finding a team to develop Justin Fields is what’s most important when it comes to hiring a coach and GM in Chicago, of course. One of the more popular candidates in terms of a coaching candidate has been Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

According to the latest report, it appears as though Daboll’s assistant general manager is now off the market. But, there could be more movement in the very near future, and it could involve Daboll.

The #Giants have identified #Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen as their next GM, per me and @MikeGarafolo. They will begin working on a deal. The right-hand man to Buffalo GM Brandon Beane is ready to run his own place. He’ll do it at NYG.

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 21, 2022

Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen looks as though he is the next general manager of the New York Giants. The Bears were also interested in Schoen, who becomes the first major hire across the league.

Chicago also interviewed Daboll, along with Schoen, possibly in hopes to bring them both in together. Now, it looks like the Giants have that chance if they so choose — and if Daboll accepts the job, of course.

With Schoen off the market, and maybe Daboll as well, the Bears will need to act quickly. Once the first major hire happens, the rest will follow. It is typically a monumental domino effect.

Chicago cannot afford to get behind in this process. The future of Justin Fields depends on these hires, and if the right guys start to fly off the market, it’s McCaskey who will once again look the fool.

Next week, the Bears will be conducting a second interview with Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. They will also be interviewing Colts director of college scouting, Morocco Brown, on Monday.

Maybe, this is another potential pairing the Bears would like to hire on together. Bringing in two individuals from the same organization could give the Bears an advantage, as those two will likely have some chemistry and a relationship already in place.

Whichever route the Bears go, they still currently have plenty of options for both coach and general manager. However, as stated above, the movement will likely begin to somersault around the league after the announcement of Schoen going to New York.

It’s your move, Mr. McCaskey. Let’s see where it lands.

Former Chicago Cubs pitcher is going to jail for a long timeVincent Pariseon January 21, 2022 at 6:13 pm

The Chicago Cubs had a lot of memorable moments in 2003. Some were good and some were not so good. Unfortunately, baseball isn’t the only topic of conversation when discussing former Cubs pitcher Sergio Mitre. He was drafted in 2001 by the Cubs and played with them from 2003 to 2005.

He wasn’t very good in Chicago so the Cubs traded him to the Florida Marlins in a package that brought back Juan Pierre. It was obviously a good trade for the Cubs for a variety of reasons. Now, many years later, nothing good can be said about Mitre. The fact that he made it to Major League Baseball at all is not a good look in hindsight.

Following his time with the Cubs, he went on to play with those Marlins, the Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Yankees. He was a terrible pitcher for basically his entire career which is why he had a negative WAR, a bad ERA, and was well below .500 as a starter.

None of that matters because he was an even worse human being than he was a baseball pitcher and that is saying something because he was about as bad of a pitcher as you will ever see at the highest level.

The Chicago Cubs have a former pitcher going to jail and it is well deserved.

He is about as bad of a person as there can be on planet earth. Sergio Mitre is going to jail for 40-60 years for the murder of a 22-month-old little girl that belonged to his girlfriend. That is a horrid piece of news to read. An innocent little girl with her whole life ahead of her was taken because of some monster.

Hearing about former Major League Baseball players doing this kind of stuff is absolutely horrifying. At 40 years old, he will be a very old man when he is eligible to be released from prison in Mexico. To be honest, that doesn’t even feel like enough.

It will never make up for the loss of the little girl but it is good to know that a bad person like Mitre is going away forever. While in prison, he should have plenty of time to sit there and think about the horrors that he caused for a lot of people and be ashamed of his own existence.

Furama is another one of our go-to spots for our dim sum cravings. Family owned and operated across generations, Furama served its first customers in Uptown in 1985. Throughout the years, Furama also developed a larger variety of Cantonese and Dim Sum items so customers can enjoy a fuller experience of Chinese cuisine. Furama offers one of the largest varieties of Dim Sum in Chicago and uniquely serves guests the traditional way on Dim Sum Carts.

Multiple locations

Hot pot, sizzling rice, Chengdu street food, and delicious bubble tea. Lao Sze Chuan might be a chain, but it’s definitely the most authentic Chinese chain out there. If you love inhumanly spicy food, Lao Sze Chuan is the challenge you must take on. Our favorites are the Dry Chilli Chicken, Szechuan Smoked Tea Duck, and Mapo Tofu.

Multiple locations

MingHin is another authentic chain offering some of the best Cantonese food in Chicago. The luxurious interior transports you to a classic Asian palace, and the food will definitely make you feel like a king/queen as well. Over the years, their menu has expanded from dim sums and traditional dishes. Nowadays, they also offer sushi, new Chinese appetizers, and delicious cocktails.

1138 W Argyle St, Chicago, IL 60640

Sometimes the best is the simplest. Honeymoon Cafe sure lives up to their slogan of “best food, great value.” Without any unnecessary decoration or “modern twist,” Honeymoon is where we’ll go if we’re missing dinner at home. You walk in here, and you know you’re about to taste your mom and dad’s cooking you haven’t had for years.

2020 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622

Just like what the restaurant name means, this place feels like walking into an old friend’s home. They spent all day yesterday making dumplings from scratch, marinating meat using that family secret briscket recipe, and keeping drinks chilled for your long overdue visit. However, be warned because Lao Peng You doesn’t go easy on you when it comes to spice level! If you’re not good with spicy food, it’s best to add a milk tea to your order to save yourself later!

2026 S Clark St unit g, Chicago, IL 60616

Bubble tea shop doesn’t count as a restaurant, you say? Okay, maybe you’re right on that one, but we feel wrong if we don’t include at least one authentic bubble tea spot in Chicago, you know? Tsaocaa uses traditional recipes instead of cheap flavoring chemicals. Their milk tea is one of the best we’ve had in Chicago thus far, and their fruit tea is a work of art!

NFL insider predicts Chicago Bears hire this former head coach

The Chicago Bears coaching search goes on and barring any last-minute surprises this weekend, Monday will mark two weeks since the team fired Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace. It will also mark the day of the second interview for Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus who is the lone finalist right now for the job.

That’s going to change, as Chicago will conduct more interviews over the next few days but one NFL insider is saying we should be keeping our eyes on another candidate instead.

In ESPN’s latest coaching search piece on Friday, insider Dan Graziano talked about the Bears job and made his prediction on who he thinks gets the job. It’s not Eberflus. It’s not Brian Daboll. Not Brian Flores. It’s not even Byron Leftwich. It’s veteran coach Jim Caldwell:

According to multiple sources, the Raiders and Vikings both reached out to former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell this week to request to interview him, and he declined both requests. This indicates strongly that Caldwell believes he will get one of the other open jobs, and my understanding is that he’s in the mix in both Chicago and Jacksonville and already is reaching out to candidates for his staff.

If I had to bet right now, I’d say Caldwell ends up in Chicago, where former Colts general manager Bill Polian is helping direct the search, though it’s obviously interesting that Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is scheduled for a second interview there. The Bears were interviewing Bills defensive coordinator and former Vikings coach Leslie Frazier on Friday, and I’m told there’s still support for Frazier in their building. Former Eagles coach Doug Pederson is also someone to watch in Chicago if Caldwell doesn’t turn out to be its guy.

Caldwell had his interview last weekend, emerging as a candidate for the franchise. And as Graziano mentions above, he’s turned down interviews with Minnesota and Las Vegas, instead focusing on Chicago and Jacksonville.

It’s tough to tell right now if Caldwell is the favorite but Graziano is plugged in with the league and there’s no reason not to believe him here.

Make sure to check out our Chicago Bears forum for the latest on this coaching search and the team.

Jim Caldwell emerges as potential next Chicago Bears head coachJordan Campbellon January 21, 2022 at 4:01 pm

The Chicago Bears are approaching the end of the second week of their search for a new general manager and head coach and it would appear that the team is not nearing a decision on either vacancy.

While the Bears’ list of candidates has been filled with strong options, the criticism that the team is receiving is centered around their process and pace. While other teams with vacancies such as the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars are identifying finalists for their respective vacancies, the Bears have yet to reach that stage as they still have first round interviews to be completed next week.

The Bears will be interviewing Indianapolis Colts’ executive Morroco Brown for the first time on Monday in regard to their general manager vacancy, and on Tuesday, the Bears will speak with Saints’ defensive coordinator Dennis Allen for the first time regarding the vacancy for their head coach position.

While Allen will be meeting with the Bears for his first interview on Tuesday, it would appear that the team has targeted their next head coach. ESPN’s Dan Graziano is reporting that former Detroit Lions’ head coach Jim Caldwell has declined interview requests from both the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings. As for the reason Caldwell denied those requests? Graziano believes it is because Caldwell will be the next head coach of the Bears and has already begun assembling a coaching staff.

Jim Caldwell would be a respectable hire as the next head coach of the Chicago Bears but it would channel a mistake that the team has made before.

What should be noted is that Graziano was not citing sources in his belief that Caldwell will be the next head coach of the Bears. The connection between the Bears’ head coaching vacancy and Caldwell is obvious. Former Colts’ executive Bill Polian is the consultant that the Bears have entrusted to lead the search for their next general manager and head coach. Caldwell’s and Polian’s careers intersected in the early to late 2000s when both were with the Indianapolis Colts’ organization.

Caldwell was last in the NFL in 2019 when he served as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins. Bears’ fans know Caldwell’s name from when he was the head coach of the Detroit Lions from 2014-2017. What was impressive regarding Caldwell’s time with the Lions was that he coached the Lions to three winnings seasons including two playoff berths during his 4-year run as their head coach.

While Caldwell is not a buzz worthy name in this year’s cycle of head coaching vacancies, he certainly would be an improvement over Matt Nagy. The issue, however, is that a potential hiring of Caldwell seems vaguely similar to the Bears’ hiring of John Fox in 2015.

Fox was hired by the Bears in 2015 because of his relationship with Ernie Accorsi. Accorsi was the consultant that the Bears hired in 2015 to oversee the search for their head coach and general manager vacancies. Fox, in large part due to Accorsi, was then forced upon incoming general manager Ryan Pace. Fox was fired after the 2017 season after it was clear that his vision for the Bears was not aligned with Pace’s vision. That is the same risk that the Bears will be taking this year in the event that they hire Caldwell before having a general manager in place.

The Event Space

Camp Aramoni’s event space, Bricks & Stones, was formerly the brickyard’s blacksmith shop during the 1800s and now serves as a stunning venue for weddings, corporate retreats, and other large functions.

Great care was taken by Camp Aramoni founders Tim and Jennifer Bias to preserve the rich history and industrial charm of the building, which showcases a grand fireplace, numerous brick kilns, plus modern amenities such as the elegant Bowers Suite, a multipurpose room named after the former superintendent of the brickyard.

Bricks & Stones can accommodate 75 seated guests indoors and 200 seated guests outdoors in their large open lawn featuring a covered pavilion, outdoor kitchen, and deck providing scenic views of the surrounding woodlands. Just outside the private camping area, trails for hiking wind through the pristine forest, and guests have the option to partake in outdoor activities including morning en-suite massages, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, food and beverage pairings, lawn games, and bicycle rides.

Report suggests Chicago Bulls could now acquire Paul MillsapRyan Heckmanon January 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm

The Chicago Bulls have endured a bit of a rough stretch as of late, snapping a four-game losing streak just a couple of days ago. Still, they sit in first place in the Eastern Conference.

But, the team continues to battle adversity. Chicago has been without forward Patrick Williams for almost the entire season. In his place, Billy Donovan has tried a handful of players.

We have seen Javonte Green, Derrick Jones Jr. and even Alex Caruso start in Williams’ place at times. But, all three of these guys have been hurt — at the same time, too, for a few games. Green should be back soon, while Jones will be out a while. Caruso, though, is finally back.

With the Bulls also being down Lonzo Ball now for 4-6 weeks, and Zach LaVine for a few games, this team is hurting. Fortunately, one vested veteran could now be available to them if a new rumor is true. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Brooklyn Nets could find a new home for veteran forward Paul Millsap.

Forward Paul Millsap and the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to find the four-time All-Star a new team where he can have a greater contribution, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

The Chicago Bulls should try to acquire Paul Millsap from the Brooklyn Nets.

This would be just one of a couple moves the Bulls could make to try and shore up their depth due to recent injuries. But, adding Millsap would be a near-perfect move for Chicago.

Millsap, 36, likely doesn’t have a whole lot of basketball left. But, he’s felt he can still contribute at a high level.

In Brooklyn this year, Millsap is playing a career-low 11.3 minutes. The impressive part is, he is posting 3.7 rebounds in those limited minutes. To put that in perspective, on a per-36-minute basis, he would be averaging a whopping 12 boards per game.

Millsap still has plenty left in the tank, especially for a team like the Bulls who, at full strength, are incredibly deep. Funny enough, Millsap was once a Bulls target. If the Bulls were fully healthy, Millsap would still be a key player off the bench and probably cut into Jones’ and Green’s minutes.

But, he might just be the right guy for the job. While he doesn’t offer much from three-point range, like Jones and Green have shown at times, Millsap provides that physical edge at the four position. And, Millsap isn’t a terrible outside shooter, either. He’s gotten it done from time to time.

Other teams like the Los Angeles Lakers or Golden State Warriors could offer up something along the lines of a second-round pick, but if the Nets don’t get much traction, Millsap could end up being bought out.

If I’m the Bulls, offering a second rounder for Millsap wouldn’t be the worst idea. But, if the Nets ultimately bought him out, then the Bulls should really pounce.
