Bullpen Usage

Final Thoughts: The Cubs could use length from Adbert Alzolay with a bullpen day for game two of the doubleheader Saturday. Good news as Ian Happ returns to the lineup after his eye injury.

Update: The Cubs dropped game one to Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals 4-2. Coming up empty with the bases loaded and nobody out in the 2nd was the big moment. Alzolay struggled a bit with control and the defense was sloppy.

The second game is a battle of the bullpens and the Cubs are the road team. Collin Rea is the Cubs so-called opener, while the Cards are going with lefty Austin Gomber. Chicago is giving Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, and Willson Contreras game two off.

The Cubs also DFA’ed Steven Souza Jr. between games, harsh but fair.

Cubs have recalled RHP Tyson Miller. He will be available for Game 2.
