Diminish Germs
Do you remember when people thought germophobes were peculiar? That was only a couple of months ago. Then COVID-19 hit and we started implementing some of their procedures to avoid germs. What are germs? Germs are considered microorganisms that can cause disease. They can spread like wildfire. One person can spread germs to multiple people.
According to the CDC there are a number of things we can do to stop the spread of germs. Stay at least six feet apart. (This works for me because when I am out in public, I don’t like strangers getting close to me.) Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands. When in public, wear a cloth face covering over your nose and mouth. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. (Never ever ingest disinfectant it can kill you. Also, if you are concerned about the toxicity in disinfectants there are some natural products available to purchase. Again, whether the product is natural or standard never ever ingest disinfectant.) Stay home when you are sick. Frequently wash your hands with soap and water at least 20 seconds. Don’t forget to wash in between your fingers.
My doctor recommended that when I go out in public and come back home, I immediately change my clothes. He said the Coronavirus can stay on clothes for 72 hours. Although, an article in WebMD says that is harder to catch the Coronavirus from soft surfaces compared to hard surfaces. There is also a theory that the shoes we wear outside carry germs and you should not wear those shoes in the house. Cell phones are germ magnets. You should find a safe way to keep them clean. The following is a link to an article on healtline.com with instructions for cleaning your cell phone. https://www.healthline.com/health-news/how-to-clean-your-phone-during-outbreak
I don’t feel the recommendations healthcare professionals have made are difficult to follow. Of course, it is up to you as an individual what you will or will not do. I personally follow the old saying better safe than sorry.

Meet The Blogger

Sheri McIntosh
I have been interested in preventive medicine since my childhood. In the 70s, my aunt would take me with her to meet with a doctor who emphasized preventive medicine. A lot of the things that doctor discussed then has become standard today.
