I’ve been a journalist for nearly 20-years for the Chicago Tribune Media Group writing on stories that ran the range of  traveling, crime, hotel reviews, even drag races. I’ve never had an experience at a hotel where I felt like the Jim Crow Laws may, in fact, have been re-instituted the opportunity to experience hotels that catered to their clients respectably and then,in your career, you tend to meet the hotels that still subscribe racial profiling, lack of kindness and most of all, a lack of diversity in ideas and people.

While it’s staff may be stereotypical – except one guy at the front desk that was patient, kind  and, seemingly caring; I’ll never forget him actually because that kindness changed me.

My short and rather awkward visit there proved to show that the staff was ill-equipped to handle and deal with people that wasn’t their skin tone or have their socioeconomic background. I typically never blog and pull the race card when reviewing restaurants or events in Chicago, however, there’s something about the energy here, or it’s vibe or even its ghost-like presence from, perhaps, its former Dana Spa Hotel employees that have seemed pass on and continue to lurk among the hallways and enjoy hunting the presence of newcomers.

It’s almost as if the staff and has outsourced  is merely there, not for providing great customer service

I didn’t feel that the Euro team were racially inclusive and aware of sensitive issues facing people of color in today’s climate. To be frank, in my opinion, Black and Brown people just don’t seem to be welcomed or valued. There’s a level I sensed of  were hot topic issues they were sensitive and/or knowledgeable about
