I’ve Got The Hippy Shakes
Can you have a staycation during a pandemic?

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone
2020 has turned into the year of the cancellation. School, work, sports, concerts, etc….all cancelled! Coronavirus pandemic!
Summer is here and the pandemic hasn’t been kind to it. With summer comes people’s vacations. Traveling to fun or exotic places. These are trips that, in some cases, folks have planned for years. They’re all postponed for at least another year. In a lot of cases, those trips will never be rescheduled. Cancelled!
While we can’t take cruises to Alaska, tour Europe or fly to Asia, there must be a way to have some local fun…or is there?
I’m ready to take a break. I’ve been sitting in front of this computer keyboard a little too much lately. Okay…I admit it’s a lot too much, hence the need for a short break. The question is what can you do in the area that would be both entertaining and safe? Hmmmm!
I think the keyword here is SAFE. Most everything is open again. The question is what can you actually do that would not cause harm to yourself and others. Also, what can you do that would be in your pandemic comfort level? Hmmm…I admit, most anything would make me feel a little queasy.
If I think it’s an adventure to go to a grocery store without a shopping list and just roam from aisle to aisle; then I’m probably not ready to go to the zoo, even with a limit on visitors. If I’m worried about being on a city bus when there’s people in every row; then how can I handle taking a road trip to Lake Geneva and walk around town with hundreds or maybe thousands of strangers? If I’m out for a walk and move to the other side of the street whenever I see another person moving in my direction; then how can I manage if I go for that same walk along the lakefront, with many more people?
The answers to these questions and more are yet to be determined, but we’re going to find out. I’m putting my laptop in storage for the next week. It’ll be nice to hear about something in the news and not think I need to make a five hundred word comment about it. I’ve done enough of that in the first half of 2020. It’s a good idea to get recharged and get ready for the second half of the year, because it’s going to be a fucking doozy!
As for the staycation events, they include a day trip to Wisconsin, reading a book, listening to a couple of new albums and binging a tv show. I’ll let you know how it goes next week…provided there is a next week. I’m pretty sure there will be, but who knows for sure. After all, it’s still 2020.

Meet The Blogger
Howard Moore
My so called friends think it’s time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don’t tell them that. I’ll deny it until they die!
I can’t believe I’ve been writing this blog for four years.
It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don’t know how to describe it anymore.
I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we’re good for four more years..God help us all!
Oh yeah…the biographical stuff. I’m not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog. -
