Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize totally on the come. He had done nothing to deserve it. Nor through his entire eight years as president did he. Nor did anything he did anything afterwards. Other than stand aside while Syrian monster Bashar al-Assad used weapons of mass destruction (deadly chemicals) on his own people.
Norwegian Parliament member Christian Tybring-Gjedde nominated President Donald Trump in recognition of his role in brokering the historic normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. It is as historic and encouraging as President Jimmy Carter Peace Prize award “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.” Much of that was based on Carter’s s mediation of the Camp David Accords bringing peace between Israel and Egypt.
The nomination sent Trump haters into orbit. Typical was the ad hominem attack on the nominator as “a far-right anti-immigration nut job.” Can we at least discuss the nomination’s merits?
