Chicago Teachers Union President Jesse Sharkey who is NOT the boss of Chicago Public Schools. (John J. Kim / Chicago Tribune)
I wrote that in December, 2020, not thinking that two years later, the Chicago Teachers Unions would still be disgracing itself and screwing parents and children with its ridiculous demands.
The CTU has elevated me-firstism to new heights, exposing itself to unprecedented national loathing. Well, not for viewers of national media news that have pretty much ignored this outrage.
Infamously, the CTU said back then, as I wrote:
This is the @CTULocal1 that tweeted (since taken down),“The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny.” If anything is sexist and racist, it’s the CTU union whose fight to keep children out of the classroom falls heaviest on minorities, impoverished and others that science demonstrates are most damaged by remote instruction.
So now, the union has closed public schools for the third day, and as of this writing, who knows how long this will last. There needs to be a deep investigation if there is a way to decertify the CTU, to break its death grip on Chicago.
Meanwhile, what’s needed is a tidal wave of parental outrage that will lead to the creation of more charter schools–their number is capped at the insistence of the CTU. Even better, the creation of vouchers that will allow parents to send their children to schools–public or private–of their choice.
The decision in the hands of the Illinois Legislature, controlled by Democrats who are controlled by the public employee unions, especially the CTU. I fear that only prayers to a righteous God will budge the cowardly lawmakers.
