Josh Rouse has released a new cover called “Two Winters Long.” It feels like a winter jam, replete with harmonica and warm fingerpicking. Here’s what our favorite troubadour had to say about it.
“Here’s a new single for those cold winter nights in front of the fireplace. A folky version of the 1962 R&B single “Two Winters Long” performed by Irma Thomas and written by Alain Toussaint.” – Josh Rouse
John Mellencamp has a new single, “Chasing Rainbows,” and a new album, Strictly A One-Eyed Jack, that will be released on January 21st via Republic Records. My first thought is it sounds eerily reminiscent of “For What It’s Worth,” by Buffalo Springfield. I’ll stop there…
Say what you will about the Bad Suns, but they write incredible pop music. Take “Peachy” for instance, it’s formulaic but still feels fresh, like they’re pushing their own boundaries, in a sense, as Coldplay does.
Neon Trees released a Christmas song a few weeks back, but this swinging version of “Everybody Talks” is the one that should be on your New Year’s Eve playlist.
Foals came to Christmas dinner with a juiced-up remix of “Wake Me Up” and it’s one you should play while you’re cleaning the kitchen with your beverage of choice because it’s no doubt gonna get you moving.
‘Tis the season for a million new remixes, and greatest misses packages, but we can always use more DISCO, and we can definitely use more Kylie.
Do bands use remixes today to keep their name in the spotlight? You’re damn right they do, and they mainly do it to keep you streaming their catalog. This version of “Dirty Air” is another reason to do that, especially if you’re needing a Two Door Cinema fix?
This “B-Side” offers up another taste of the dynamic duo that is Khruangbin and Leon Bridges. It’s a great listen, with a funky guitar riff, that begs for more!
“A Night In Tunisia” is your Jazz Cut Of The Week. Art Blakely & The Jazz Messengers deliver this cut taken from a show at Hibiya Public Hall on January 14th, 1961. This is one of the last shows this lineup did on their first tour of Japan, and you can hear the whole show on First Flight to Tokyo: The Lost 1961 Recordings.
