New Chicago Bears lineman has words for his former teamRyan Heckmanon March 18, 2022 at 9:35 pm

During the madness of NFL free agency, the Chicago Bears remain one of the more steadfast, patient teams. While much of the league is busy creating blockbuster-type headlines, the Bears are off to a quieter start.

General manager Ryan Poles set out with a few clear goals in mind, but the most important goal of all is to develop and protect franchise quarterback Justin Fields.

The Bears agreed to terms with former Green Bay Packers interior offensive lineman Lucas Patrick this week, bringing him in to be their starting center. The Bears still have Cody Whitehair on the roster, who likely will stick around as a guard, then.

But, in Patrick, the Bears found themselves an experienced center who knows Luke Getsy’s offensive tendencies, and that’s a big win. Speaking of win, Patrick has been used to doing such in Green Bay and doesn’t plan to stop.

New Chicago Bears offensive lineman Lucas Patrick had some choice words in regards to his former team.

When Patrick spoke to the Chicago media, he had several newsworthy quotes, but none better than this one:

“I’ve been on the winning side and am going to stay there. Looking forward to beating “them” twice a year.”

Of course, the Bears have been in a bit of a rut when it comes to consistently beating the Packers. Having to deal with Patrick’s former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has not made things easy.

But, Rodgers will now have to move forward without All Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, after he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Patrick’s experience with the rivalry is a positive, as he understands just how important beating the Packers is to this organization and city.

Patrick also talked about how it was tough to pass up coming to the league’s founding franchise, which was pleasing to hear.

#Bears center Lucas Patrick: “To go from one historic franchise to THE historic franchise in the NFL … it’s Chicago, that was too good to pass up.”

Along with a few other notes, Patrick made it clear he came to Chicago to help protect Justin Fields, stating that Fields has “it.”

Having Patrick come in as one of the league’s best blocking centers is not to be taken lightly. This is an excellent signing for the Bears, but it’s equally as good to know Patrick’s intentions. He understands how the Bears feel about Fields and what this organization’s plans are going forward.

it’s all about the quarterback, and Patrick gets it.

The Bears likely won’t be a winning team in 2022, but it certainly means a lot knowing Patrick wants to beat the Packers, if nothing else.
