A 40-year-old man was killed in a shooting Tuesday night in Lawndale on the West Side.

The man was standing outside about 9:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Lawndale Avenue when a male exited a blue sedan and opened fire, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the lower backside and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

No one was in custody.
