The Chicago Blackhawks played a preseason game at home on Saturday night as they were defeated by the Detroit Red Wings. Here we are on Sunday and they are the official home team for the second night in a row.

However, they aren’t playing the game at the United Center. They are also not playing the game at the Xcel Energy Center which is the home of their opponent in Minnesota Wild. Instead, the game will be played at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This is the “Home Away From Home” game being played between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild at the home of the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA.

They put together some nice-looking ice for this preseason game between these two Central Division rivals. Each team has an incredible fanbase that should fill the arena in a town split between the two cities.

We will see some of the better Chicago Blackhawks players on Sunday night in this game. Patrick Kane, Seth Jones, and Max Domi are a few of the players that you can expect to see skating for the Hawks in this one. Petr Mrazek and Arvid Soderblom are the goalies expected to dress.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild have a big game in Milwaukee.

They will face an only friend in the net for the Minnesota Wild as Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to play the whole game. They have some studs in the lineup as skaters as well. Matt Boldy, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Ryan Hartman are just a few examples of great Wild players expected to play.

What is the NHL trying to get out of playing this game in a non-NHL American market? Well, the idea of growing the game is certainly in play. Milwaukee (and anywhere in Wisconsin) certainly knows how to be a great place for sports. Who knows, maybe the Arizona Coyotes will end up there one day.

It is just the preseason but it is a chance for both teams to play well and get ready for the season in a unique environment. It is an exciting game because of the location circumstances but there is development to accomplish as well. It should be a lot of fun to watch.
