Energy City has found its niche with smoothie beers. This “Bistro” series is something special, showcasing all sorts of flavors from Blackberry Pancakes to Peach Crumble. If you can imagine it, Energy City is brewing it, and here’s the thing: they are GOOD!
“I’ll take you to the candy shop/Boy one taste of what I got
I’ll have you spending all you got.” -50 Cent
Last December the guys over at Energy City brewed their first “fruited sour slushie beer,” as they called it in their blog.
[embedded content]At that point, they never really looked back. While the Covid-19 pandemic is hitting every business hard, “EC,” as I now call them, has hit a stride.
“Hey Frank, are we getting the new EC release?”
Each week they release a new flavor and their pre-sale sells out. You could say the beer is selling like hotcakes!
I digress. I’m lucky because a friend of mine makes the journey to Batavia, Illinois, every Saturday to pick up our curbside delivery. He hauls it back to the rabid fan base of sugar water drinkers in Chicago and we rate it like the beer snobs that we are.
So far my two favorite varietals are the Bistro Peanut Butter & Blackberry PB&J and the Bistro Grande Blueberry Pancakes. They don’t make a bad variant in this series, so if you see one, grab it.
For awhile, Hop Butcher was my favorite brewer, but these days, EC is making my most sought after drink.
