The bigger news of the week has been the report that 5 Rabbit Cerveceria is planning to close it production brewery in Bedford Park. Josh Noel broke the story in the Tribune.
The story suggests they had been planning to scale back operations before the COVID pandemic hit, focusing on a brewpub under construction in the Pilsen neighborhood.
Since the news broke, 5 Rabbit co-owner Mila Ramirez posted to 5 Rabbit’s Facebook page, explaining “We love our distribution business, but the power that drives us lays in our desire to connect with people and strengthen the community.” It appears they intend to keep 5 Rabbit active in the area.
