Since 2020, Chicago has reimagined some of its most popular summer festivals to accommodate a more comfortable and safe environment throughout COVID-19. Perhaps no festival saw a bigger reimagining than the Taste of Chicago in that the iconic two-week-long food festival in Grant Park turned into a smaller central food festival with various satellite festivals scattered throughout the city on preceding June weekends. This was done not only to promote safety within high traffic events, but also, to expand and highlight the different cultures, food, music, and local businesses of neighborhoods that are often looked over by Chicagoans and tourists alike.
This upcoming weekend you can enjoy a slide of the Taste of Chicago in the Little Village neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side.
Little Village is known for its eclectic Mexican-American culture with everything ranging from robust scents and tastes from the restaurants along 26th Street to the vibrant street shops selling bright and beautiful quinceañera dresses.
Enjoy a slice of Taste of Chicago in the Little Village neighborhood with an exciting array of local and citywide food vendors showcasing the diversity of Chicago’s culinary scene. Attendees can taste everything from authentic Mexican desserts such as Gazpacho Moreliano from Razpachos and Don Paletas’s refreshing Mexican-style ice pops to Auntie Vee’s mac & cheese and Chicago’s Doghouse gourmet sausages, per the City’s website. With a full lineup of free musical performances including Jarochicanos, celebrating the musical tradition of Son Jarocho, Malafacha bringing their Reggae and Latin rhythms and more, it’s an event not to be missed.
Note: No alcohol permitted onsite at this event.
