The blaze was reported about 7 a.m. at an apartment building in the 1300 block of South Homan Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
No injuries have been reported as crews continue to battle the fire, fire officials said.
The number 82 Kimball-Homan buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions to accommodate fire crews at Homan Avenue and Roosevelt Road, CTA said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
