Alex Vlasic’s first career NHL goal is certainly exciting to seeVincent Pariseon April 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks just love burning the first year of contracts during this meaningless season. They did that with Lukas Reichel already last week and they did it with Alex Vlasic on Wednesday night.

The young left-handed defenseman played in his 10th career game which, as mentioned before, burns the first year of his entry-level deal. It is truly a strange move for the Hawks as they just try to get to the end of the horrid season that took place this year.

One positive out of that bad decision, however, was the fact that he scored his first career NHL goal in that 10th game. We don’t truly know what kind of defenseman he will become but having that first goal off his back is certainly nice. It was also his first carer point.

Vlasic scored the goal by just simply throwing the puck at the net looking for a stick in front. He got one but it was that of an Arizona Coyotes player so the goal will forever stand as the first of his career.

The Chicago Blackhawks have high hopes for young defenseman Alex Vlasic.

Chicago selected Vlasic in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft via the 43rd overall pick. It was a great selection for them as he has been developed at Boston University nicely. Now he hopes to continue playing in the NHL until the season is over so he can work towards next year.

The goal that Vlasic scored put Chicago up 3-1 but they were unable to hold that lead. Arizona tied it and forced overtime. Arizona has four fewer wins than the Hawks so let’s not pretend that blowing this lead to them is any different than blowing a lead to any other team.

Luckily, in overtime, Patrick Kane was able to make a brilliant play to find Alex DeBrincat for the easy game-winning goal. It was the 40th of the season for him to make sure the Hawks win on the night when their new young friend scored his first career goal.

Vlasic and the Hawks are almost done. They have a few more games left starting with a trip to northern California to play the San Jose Sharks. Young Vlasic will be playing against his cousin Marc-Edouard Vlasic for the second time in just over a week so that has to be cool for their family. Hopefully, now that his first year is burned, they are able to see good production from him.
