Ryan Poles will be heavily involved in the scouting combine, no doubt, but there’s also a huge, key portion of the offseason coming up in just two weeks — NFL free agency.

The Bears have countless holes to fill this year, and they’ll have a decent amount of money to work with to do so. But, Poles will have to be cautious. Recent leadership teams have handed out some hefty contracts which may seem regrettable, and Poles doesn’t want to do that.

Fortunately, he and his brand-new staff have a lot of connections from the organizations they have come from. Poles and Matt Eberflus certainly have options in free agency.

The Chicago Bears could pursue a handful of free agent cornerbacks connected to their new leadership team.

One position which the Bears could use their previous relationships and connections to bolster is at cornerback. Cornerback is arguably the most precious need for this team at the moment, probably tied up there with wide receiver and offensive line.

The two most notable names in the cornerback room are Jaylon Johnson and Thomas Graham Jr., both who present plenty of longevity and potential in the Bears’ secondary.

But outside of those guys, the Bears don’t have a lot to work with and should definitely seek some veteran help. If they chose to go the free agency route, there are three particular cornerbacks which the Bears could pursue, all of whom are familiar with one or more of Chicago’s leadership.
