Chicago Bears: Final four QBs should really make them thinkon January 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm

The Bears just won’t get a guy like this overnight but it should be their number one priority before everything else. They were too good (even though they weren’t even that good) to land one of the top guys like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, or Zach Wilson. There are no game-breaking guys available on the free-agent market either so they just have to keep looking.

Of course, Deshaun Watson is on the trade block. He doesn’t want to play for the Houston Texans anymore but the Bears don’t really have the assets to give up for him. They passed on him (and Mahomes) in favor of Trubisky back in 2017 and they will regret that decision for many decades. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now and has the talent to be one of those final four standing with a chance to win a Super Bowl.

There have been many teams in the final four over the years and they are almost all led by MVP (top 7-10) level quarterbacks. Guys like Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, and Matt Ryan have all been there recently which proves that it is so important. Until the Bears get themselves someone like that, they are going nowhere.

They do need pieces around that great unnamed quarterback but it would all start and end with him. A good offensive line and weapons are all for not if the man under center is bad. Jay Cutler is statistically the greatest in the history of the Chicago Bears and that tells a lot about how bad they have actually been at the position.

Ryan Pace has missed time and time again on high draft picks and the biggest one of them all was when they traded up a spot to select Trubisky. As long as he is there, nobody should have much faith at all that he will fix the position. There really isn’t any reason to believe anybody will fix it based on the last 50 years but the hope will always remain. The next course of action is cloudy and it will remain cloudy until the quarterback is resolved.
