Cubs vs Cleveland Series Preview: (9/15-9/16)
Tuesday at 5:04 pm
The Cubs (28-20) made a dramatic turn around to win a key series in Milwaukee. Jason Heyward took the Brewers all-star closer Josh Hader deep for a game-winning three-run homer Saturday. Then Sunday, Alec Mills threw a no-hitter, 16th in Cubs history, in a 12-0 rout.
Perhaps most importantly, they won a Brewers series in September and got a better grip on a playoff spot. The starting staff and bullpen looked much better, but strike out issues remain on offense. The Cubs now return home for two quick games with Cleveland.
The Tribe (26-21) have a big lead for the final AL playoff spot. Their 3.24 team ERA is the second best in the majors. They don’t hit for average or power, so runs are a problem.
Would be nice for the Cubs to keep winning and lock up a playoff spot. More no-hitters would be cool too.
